Moominland Midwinter (Moomins, 5) Review: Beautiful hardback Moomin books! - These are the same Moomin books, with beautiful artwork on the sleeve and inside covers! Some of them even have a little fold out Maps in the beginning, showing the area in the story. Note: the text and page numbers don’t EXACTLY match up to the old series, but that’s a very small issue. I am so EXCITED to have these new hardcover movement books, they are smaller size and very durable. I love them! The paperbacks aren’t bad either, just not as durable and not as much pretty artwork. But they are also a good cheaper option. Review: you'll probably be just as happy as I was to know that the books are ... - If you grew up with the Moomintrolls just as I did, you'll probably be just as happy as I was to know that the books are not only available but still in print and you can order brand new unblemished copies. If you didn't grow up with the Moomintroll books, it's never too late to learn to love them or teach the kids in your life to do so. To the uninitiated, it's hard to explain what makes the Moomintrolls so great. Sometimes there are great adventures in their tales but often they are distinguished from other so-called children's literature by the quiet, philosophical bent of much of the text. Either way they're gems not to be missed. (NOTE: when I say "so-called children's literature" it's not because I disdain children's literature but rather that I disdain the idea that it's just for children. A Wrinkle in Time, the Moomintroll books, The Phantom Tollbooth, these are great books and they remain worth reading at any age.)

The Best One Yet
This story of winter as experienced by one who usually slept through it is so much fun. Moomintroll finds himself awake while his family snores away the winter. He meets those who stay awake in the winter and have to keep warm. He feeds many creatures from the hidden jam stored away underground. It makes you appreciate the winter season if you have one where you live.

Beautiful story of adventure, friendship and (self)discovery
One of the best books in the Moomin series. It has all the wonderful things about a children's story: the wonder (Moomin has never seen snow before, and there's magic), the mystery (so many strange things and people!), a change of heart (*spoiler* he goes from hating winter and the visitors to loving it and them), danger (but never too scary), friendship (old and new), sacrifice (the jam!), and one of the best changes in character perception I've ever seen in any story, children's or adult (the character doesn't change, everyone just grows to appreciate his qualities and see them in a new light - an incredible message of being true to yourself, because a few true good friends are better than being universally popular).

Now it's winter
After the midsummer, now it's winter season we can enjoy of the adventure of Moomintroll. While his family and friends fell asleep through winter, Moomintroll suddenly woke up from his sleep. This ended up him to spend awake in winter despite his custom to sleep through winter. He met new friends and had a blast/troubles through winter but it's still fun.

This book may appeal to adults more than to cvhildren.
It's a whimsical, philosophical story of some Finnish trolls who spend the long Finnish winter asleep in their warm cozy beds. A perfect book for a cold winter evening.

I loved this book so much.
Tove Jannson has done it again in what might be her best work. A stunning and absolutely adorable story with some not so subtle subtext about overcoming a long time of sadness (as it was written in grief of her father dying). I loved this book immensely and it is one of my favorite books to date. Cannot recommend hard enough.
