Perfect for throw line
I used this to keep my throw line organized for tree work. No more tangled lines. It comes off the reel easy when thrown and makes winding it back up a cinch.

Works as expected
I've used this on a couple backpacking trips. A bit of a learning curve (still learning). I'm probably going to leave this in my car for when I get the urge to fish while passing by a pond. What I enjoyed was that while everyone else was putting their rods together at the lake, my rig was already ready. I removed my rubber band and then casted. All that said, it's hard to get great distance in casting. I probably need more practice though my next backpacking trip, I'm going to go back to the rod. Still, this is a fun way to try something new. My scale says it weighs 72 grams (with a bit of braided line on it).

Great with lure retiever
I ordered the hand reel to use on my lure retriever (lure knocker). Makes it easier on the hands and the line don't get tangled up. Used a bungee tie to keep the line on in storage.

Pretty awesome!
I got 2 of these out of curiosity after watching a few youtube videos about handline fishing. Spooled them up with 30lb test mono to set them up for surf fishing, and within a few minutes I could cast a 3oz lead about 40 yards! Pretty impressive little things. I'll update this review after a more thorough test and a trip to the beach, but so far I love 'em, especially since they're made in the USA!
