Mr. Beer - Craft Beer Making Kit 4 Gallon Complete DIY Home Brew Set Everything Included, Bottles, Refills Brew in 30 Minutes

I'm a master distiller and at the distillery we like to play with different fermentations. I decided to play with this Mr Beer system. The instructions are simple and straightforward. We made our first batch and bottled it. Waited the prescribed 14 days then refrigerated the bottles for 48 hours as recommended. The beer came out really nice and fully carbonated. We are on our second batch and will be bottling today. If you are a beginner and looking for a system that will work and let you make a decent beer at home, you won't go wrong here. It's hard to screw it up. The beers are not world class, but they are very drinkable and I wouldn't be ashamed sharing this with other folks. Well worth the money. After making a number of these beers, you can then decide if you want to move to more complex systems or just enjoy continuing with these. We have had fun making these.

This is a really great way to get into home brewing. My wife bought me this for my birthday. She picked this kit because it includes everything you need to get started brewing. The only other thing you'll need is a pot for boiling water and mixing in the hop extract, and maybe a cheap thermometer to stick on the fermenter to keep an eye on the temperature (or just a plain old indoor thermometer). The fermenter is plastic, but it is durable. I've brewed both of my hop extracts, carefully following the included directions. They came out great. The bottles are plastic as well and worked just fine. They did not seem to leak any CO2. I measured out my own priming sugar and both batches were carbonated. The spigot works and saves you from needing a bottling wand or siphon. It didn't leak at all for me, but be gentle with it, don't over tighten it. I think the bottom line is this is a great way to try home brewing before spending a bunch of money on it. Sure, there are fancier bottles and bigger, more expensive fermenter made of steel, and more accessories you could buy. But it's great to have a feel for what you really need before you waste money on things that are not as crucial. I will be picking up bigger plastic fermenting buckets, but Mr Beer will stay in service for the foreseeable future. Before I go, two crucial tips: follow the directions slowly and carefully, and do not bother your yeast, they are busy. Give them the 2 weeks in the fermenter and 2 weeks to bottle condition and they will do a fine job :)

Great product and very easy to use.. Only thing is if you’re looking for more of an authentic experience, the mix is canned and everything else is plastic, including the bottles, but it’s a great alternative to the more expensive kits and wonderful for starter

This is a great introduction to baby steps in home beer making. You get to practice sanitizing and bottling in this neat little kit and also waiting for it to carbonate. The fermenter is very sturdy and looks kind of cool and clean up is very very easy, just don't use a scrubber (NOT DISHWASHER SAFE). The flavor is pretty good. The bottles hold about two regular sized beers and clean up easily with a soft bottle brush. DONT PUT IN THE DISHWASHER LIKE I DID... IT WILL SHRINK UP ON YOU (LOL). Try the more advanced recipes with steeping grains the flavor is mouthfeel is much much better. If you have a small batch recipe the fermenter is great if you're brewing one or two gallons of beer.

Not my first choice but it does work. Just get glass bottles separately these aren’t good and the beer is eh

I received this product as a birthday gift from my wife. I finally had time to try and make beer about a month and a half after it arrived. My son came over to help, and we were both pretty excited to work on this together. All the items listed were in the box including the brewing directions. I never made it past step 1. I installed the spigot on the keg and tested to ensure it wasn't leaking. I did this 4 times and every time it leaked. I even added another rubber gasket to try and make sure it was sealed. It never worked. I'm not sure if the keg was warped or the spigot was defective, but in the end, I was never able to make beer. Very disappointing for me, my son, and my wife. For a product that must have a keg with a spigot that doesn't leak you would think the company would have solved this problem before it started selling them. Even in the directions it mentioned that there may be problems getting a seal. It recommended calling customer service if it happens. I called and heard a message saying they don't respond to calls anymore because they are too busy. The call recommended I contact them online. I went to the website and submitted a message with my contact info and a description of the problem. I never received a response. It's too late to return, but I certainly won't purchase any more Mr. Beer products. Very disappointing. Not recommended. ***Update*** Since posting my first review, the company reached out and is sending another keg and spigot. I will update once I receive and test the new parts.
