Shop Fox D2809 8-Ounce Brass Head Mallet

I gave this tool a five star because it is exactly what the advert says it is. I love how handy and compact this carving mallet fits in my hands and also with high quality compact brass head. This mallet is really what i need for my medium size carving tools. I really like the wood finish as well as you will barely notice the matt finish on the wood. I am really impressed with what i got from amazon. It was sold and shipped by amazon and anything sold and shipped from amazon are always durable and satisfactory. Good quality at an honest price

This little mallet is pretty solid for its size. Not heavy but has mass if that makes sense? Solid wood handle and brass head is great for tapping chisels. This is not meant to bang like a hammer it is just for tapping.

This mallet was really nice so ordered a 12 oz. The 12 oz. came with a crooked handle. I was able to unscrew it and discovered that the post was set crooked causing a small gap between the nylon and the brass head. If you order one from Shop Fox I'd check before using.

Just as I expected. The same pi$$ poor quality as to be expected with shop fox in general. Handle does not match picture and looks like a 6 year old turned it. Threaded into the body dreadfully and handle doesn’t meet up flush. One plus though everyone….. makes a hell of a restoration project!

Great little hammer for adjust things like plane irons and other tools. Head cake loose and had to be screwed on tighter after a few uses

One of the three items I received is defective. There is a noticeable crack in the handle. The coating of the timber handle is unfinished. Most part of the handle are seen in raw state. I would like to have this item either replaced or refund.

Great weight for leather working, the shipping was fast and recieved it in a reasonable time! Currently working on a project using heavyweight cowhide, and it definitely is a huge help. No scratches on head of the mallet so far! Weight of the mallet is light, so it is easy to control!

It’s light, easy to hold and handle, heavy enough to be very effective yet lovely and light to carry around.
