Picked up this little card to adapter a WDSN850X 4TB PCIe NVME SSD into my workstation. My two native NVMe M.2 drives on my motherboard were already full and tucked behind my hard loop so I figured rather than dismantle that, I could tuck in this adapter card instead to replace a lower capacity Intel card in the same x4 slot. This adapter comes in a nondescript. cardboard box and the only assembly instructions are on Amazon's page. Overall, not hard to "build", just very basic. Basically just do the following as the video shows:1. Snap on plastic PCIe adapter bracket2. Peel off plastic covering the thermal pad (both sides) and put that on your M.2 Drive3. Put Copper Heatsink on the M.2 Drive4. Use the little rubber rings (they seem to be a mix of rubber / plastic) to hold the assembly together.5. Insert M.2 Drive into the adapter card like any M.2 Card on a Motherboard6. Put the card into a free PCIe slot on your machine.7. Install Windows Fresh or drive clone. If you are putting this into a board-based M.2 slot, you may have to check to see if your shroud or cover has enough clearance for the thermal pad and or heatsink so it may be optional depending on how you're installing this.In terms of quality though, I've used this with said WD drive so far and it's worked great. After a drive clone, no issues setting Windows' Boot Manager in BIOS to boot from this card and it's worked flawlessly. As a minor note, a green light sits lit on this card when in use and pulses when the drive is accessing. The green isn't lime like Ethernet - it's more actual green like an RGB fan color. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent option when upgrading or adding a M.2 NVME SSD to a PC. *by J***E on August 10, 2023* The AMPCOM M.2 NVME SSD to PCIe 4.0 Card is simple to use and does deliver the advertised performance of 64Gbps speed.To reached advertised top performance, the NVMe disk should be rated at 7000 MB/s or better, your PCIe slot must support PCIe gen 4.0 and your CPU should also support PCIe gen 4.0.The PCIe card was able to deliver 7491 MB/s (60Gbps) with a Samsung 990 Pro, which is the top speed of the NVMe disk.The adapter works just fine on PCIe gen 3.0, but the speed reached (3528 MB/s) is the maximum supported by the interface. Still a lot faster than SATA interface.The AMPCOM M.2 NVME SSD to PCIe 4.0 Card is inexpensive and it can accommodate M.2 SSDs with sizes ranging from 2230 to 2280.Make sure to get a beefy M.2 heatsink when installing SSD with speeds faster than 3500 MB/s...they can get really hot. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Gets Full PCIE Gen4 Speed. Annoying Light. *by N***5 on May 21, 2022* I did have to exchange my first one of these because it came with the capacitor broken off the board. The second one works and paired with the XPG Gammix S70 Blade rated at 7400 read/6100 write I got 6800read/5700write. (Close enough to specs.)What I like:1. It works2. It is Cheap3. You get a handy small screwdriver for the NVME installation (Good for eyeglass repair also)What I don't Like:1. That capacitor (I think if packaged right it would not have been damaged)2. A very bright green light that is always on (Flashing while in use). Ridiculous. I'm going to cover it withblack electrical tape.Installation Note: On my Asus Tuf 570 wifi MOBO It was necessary to short the reset bios jumper before the machine would boot with this installed. This particular board did same when installing onboard m.2's also.I could care less that the bracket is plastic. A bracket is a bracket.
