You can not turn ON red/green/blue/3 white without pulling the end switch out a notch. It has nothing to do with IR which is controlled by the upper switch. **Q: Can you turn the light on and it in the red or IR position without going thru the white, blue or green?** A: Yes you can. You set the low light color of your choice then it always turns on in the low light color. You get to the white light by switching through the low light color. The IR light is on a separate switch. As soon as you active the IR light, it deactivates the low light/white light switch. **Q: How many lumens does it output in IR mode?** A: Run times on a single AA battery are excellent. The task light produces 0.4 lumens and has a run time of 65 hours. The primary LED in low intensity produces 15 lumens of output with a run time of 20 hours. In high intensity STRIX's primary LED has a 40 lumen output with a run time of 4.5 hours. In IR modes, low IR has a run time of 20 hours, high IR 5.5 hours and IFF strobe 40 hours. Not sure if IR is measured in lumens, but given run time it is the similar to the >40 lumen output for LED in high and 15 lumen output for LED in low setting. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great headlamp! *by M***F on May 23, 2018* I love the versatility of this light.
