Alligator Tail Meat 5 lbs

Wanted to make some alligator sauce piquant for the neighborhood BBQ so I ordered 5 lbs. I have always heard you don't want to eat the fat or you will never be able to eat alligator again, so we meticulously trimmed the meat. out of 5lbs, we probably had 1/2 lb of what looked like fat or fat lining on the meat. There is some marbled fat in the meat we could not get out but it did not taste bad. Our amount of trimming was probably overkill but didn't want to take any chances. Meat looked like it included slightly darker and lighter pieces but they were nice chunks of meat and the Alligator sauce piquant turned out excellent. There is a sauce piquant recipe on the package but I saw it after the fact. It was fun to try and all the neighbors loved it and still talk about it. Not sure I'll be spending that much on gator meat again but it was well worth the reactions. This is a good product.

I love alligator and this is a splendid product for the price. This is the second time I've purchased this meat and I'm more than satisfied. It has very little fat and requires almost no trimming. It's tender and succulent no matter if you fry or stew it. I always soak it in a Cajun buttermilk bath for about an hour before I fry it up. It's a hit at every party provided you have adventurous eaters.

I had tried alligator 5 or 6 times in the past. We just went to Florida and had alligator at crabby Bills. It was the best I had ever tried. Wanted to order some but it was all very expensive. I found this and ordered 10 lbs. Liked it so much we ordered an additional 10 lbs. It is not all white meat but it is very good. The real secret is making a good dipping sauce. We like the mayonnaise horse radish and mustard sauce that you can easily find the recipe on the Internet. Very much like what crabby bills serves. Cut into 1 inch chunks and soak in lemon or lime juice then bread and deep fry like fish or chicken. Our order was well packed and arrived frozen. Please disregard the other review because a it looks like he didn't even try this and b it sounds like he was reviewing the more expensive tail for sale on Amazon. You wont be dissapointed with this. Tender & delicious meat. We cut the meat into large cubes, soaked in buttermilk for a 1/2 hour then coated in a mixture of flour, corn meal, garlic powder, Old Bay, S & P. Fried in vegetable shortening for 3 minutes. Drained on paper towels & served with cocktail sauce.

Upon opening the package, I was disappointed because the package of “loin” was comprised of many small scraps, not a loin. This limited the uses, obviously could not grill. Ended up coating in a seafood breader and frying. The gator tasted very good, but doubt if I’ll reorder unless the other packs reveal bigger pieces.

I have ordered this product twice and have been very impressed. From the packaging to the product to how fast the delivery was. It was a real hit at the last 4th of July BBQ

The image of the bag that you see that you are buying is not correct, I received a different bag with very low protein per serving. I may have received rat.

I expected large filets but got small chunks so perfect for the fryer not so much for the grill. Meat was nice and tender and flavorful.
