    Good book, expected more

It was a good book. I expected more, or something more solid to apply like maybe a consistent approach to handling the meltdowns, though. But, it does provide so many solutions for everyday situations. The other books I bought didn't touch nose picking, rudeness to strangers, meltdowns in vehicles, etc. A wide, wide variety of everyday battles to look up. I understand they were trying to provide solutions for a small child and older children so there are so many examples and they are different. If you have children within this range, I'd say it's a good choice. But, we thought they gave way too many chances and alternatives. For example, I'm not making two meals for my child every night for dinner just because she may not like one. She eats what we eat, or she can have what's already on the table, like bread. But, that's just us. Some people may think that's too harsh. Overall, I'd say there is no consistent approach addressed in the book, every situation is handled differently, but toddlers need consistency and limits. For the level of detail on the meltdowns in a small child's life, I'd say it's a good choice, but have your own plan in place for how to handle things consistently and just use this book as a supplement maybe.

    So far so good!

Great book, am still reading it piece by piece as any parent can understand. Gives great strategies about how to communicate with your child and keep you as cool as possible in the process. I like the strategies it gives for how to deal with the insanity children exhibit in public. Lots of stories and situations, which can be a little overkill on a topic, but that may be something you like. Also touts the importance of teaching your child to deal with anger/frustration. If you aren't able to set good examples of how to do things, they will follow suit. I like the section on how to remain cool as a parent to deal with these behaviors. I will be going back to this again and again.

    Grampa still breaks for Meltdowns

My wife and I retired from decades of corporate life to discover how much we enjoyed time taking care of our grandson. When he turned two, we realized how much we had forgotten about toddlers, and how/why they fall apart. But this book offered practical advice and helped me to think, prepare, and remember to hold my temper when the major meltdown in the grocery store occured. Yes, some advice seems intuitive, but it's really nice to have just read - and be able to remember - that advice when you are with a screaming child. Read the book, relax; it's our job as parents and grandparents to help our kids pass through this stage, lovingly, with flying colors. This book helped me in my role, and I hope it does for others as well.
