BRIO World Smart Tech Sound Battery Powered Record & Play Toy Train Engine for Kids Age 3 Years Up

Having seen the reviews from a year or more ago about faulty battery compartments I was a little apprehensive to buy but thought Brio have had a year to resolve the issue. The train works fine it was a little confusing at first as the initial red light went off and I couldn't figure out how to turn the train back on but trial and error, pressing buttons for various amounts of time, got it working (you need to hold down the middle button until the lights come on and it makes a sound). We've managed to update it from the app too (needed if you've got the fire, waterfall and crossing sets). I'm glad I bought the item as my 3 year old loves it and it had added another dimension of play to his brio train world.

Connecting to the App is easy. Recommend you use the app to move the train then upload the additional sounds straight away as the Bluetooth connection will time out. My grandson is going to love this.

Train not working. Straight out of the box, no way on earth to get it working. To be honest, I was not aware it was a "used but like new" product - I feel there is some misrepresentation here. I ordered this item, and it was brought to Canada after the fact by my mother, who gave it to my son, her grandchild, as a present. Terrible disappointment for my 5-year-old son! Now, obviously out of the return window, and I can find no way to contact the vendor. Appalling experience, would advise others to stay well away.

This kit augmented a standard Brio train kit. Prime was valuable because the kit originally supplied did not work properly and has had to be replaced.

Updated. Previous lots of problems but then downloaded brio smart tech app (not Brio app enabled engine as had done before) and updated train software. This then made it work as intended. Instructions need to be clearer on this as it does not work properly out of the box. Before this the Train stopped moving on the bridge or tunnel of the brio smart tech waterfall set.

We bought the brio smart tech set last year for Christmas and the train is starting to get tired. It’s great that there is a replacement train. My son loves this train and the full set is awesome!

You can say something in the microphone and then every time the train rides through the thing it will repeat just what you said, fun for five times and then no kid has any more interest in it, so don't waste you money, better give it a away to the poor.
