Perfect for a side gate. *by S***N on 24 May 2023* This item was purchased to replace an existing keypad lock that had started to fail to open after several years. This lock immediately felt more robust than the old lock but also in a smaller form factor. The all-metal construction feels really solid and the buttons operate with a satisfyingly robust mechanical click. The system for changing the combination is straightforward once you understand the principle, and I was easily able to program a new shorter code than the factory default to match the existing one that was used.The unit I was replacing had and identical larch mechanism and mounting screw positions, so replacement was very easy. For new installations they include a handy template to enable you to drill appropriate mounting holes. The instructions overall weren't bad, although I didn't see reference to that fact that you can adjust which way the internal handle operates by removing a screw from the inner rear of it from one hole to another to get the handle to turn correctly for the handedness and swing of your door.It's smooth to operate, and although firm the buttons are not too difficult to push. The lock looks good, but of course only time will tell how it stands up to the weather, but the build quality gives me no reason to think it won't last a long time.
