Review: very satisfied ( BUT ) please read all - As a painter of 45 yrs I have used many graco high dollar pumps for work and many other brand`s , I sort of bought this unit along with another very expensive powerful unit as a toy just for kick`s to see what the modern world is up to these day`s , so I was doing my own home for fun and I was using behr marquee exterior flat paint , if you know about this material it is one of the thickest on the market it is an outstanding lasting paint , I thought for sure I was going to need thinning but I did not do it and went for it straight out of the gallon can , after you do the initial prep cleaning that is needed before you put paint in the machine , this thing can suck the chrome off of a trailer hitch ball , I sprayed 17 gallons over a 6 hour period and the pump did not fail me for one second and I did not even use a strain bag over the intake tube as I always do because I really did not care after only paying 200 bucks for this thing , I still cleaned it up as I always do with a 5 gallon bucket of hot water with a tiny spoon of lemon dish soap in it ran out the 5 gallons of water then a clean 2 gallon bucket of water then I put the pump armor thru her and I fell in love , my guy`s think I am crazy carrying this thing around with me every where like a six pack of soda, it weighs nothing , now here is my bad side of this review , I took another pump into my airless repair shop that most of southern calif uses for over 50 yrs they are outstanding and honest on all pump`s , I was talking about my new toy and how happy it made me as a painter he said oh boy watch out I have had a dozen or so of those come in and there is nothing I can do for them they are actually disposable , I said your kidding me , he was very serious and showed me a few that were in his recycle pile , they all had leaked paint out of the back of the machine from inside the plastic shroud and are not fixable , when you buy this unit you must register it the same day with graco do not hesitate before you touch it , just fill out the paper and send it in and the customer service at graco is out of this world they will simply send you another unit asap if you need it I say buy one for any job it will pay its self off just with the 50 dollar hose and the 125 dollar gun alone and the unit actually coast only as much as a good quality 5 gallon bucket of paint. ## Features - I have a Graco X7 Magnum Pro and my max tip size is .017. This is found in the last two numbers of the number on the tip. So a tip marked 517 would mean that the spray tip orifice is .017. The “5” is half the width of the spray fan pattern. So the 517 tip would spray a pattern that is 10 inches wide (5 x 2) and would spray a paint that requires an .017 orifice which is a very thick paint. The orifice size requirement can be found in the paint specifications. This unit comes with a 515 tip, and I could not find the max tip size but I suspect this is it — .015 — which is a big orifice and can handle almost all latex or oil based paints but I would not use oil base in a sprayer because of clean up. Much easier to run water through it for clean up than mineral spirits. I am currently painting my deck and I’m using Sherwin-Williams Super Deck product which is thicker than normal paint, and I’m using a .015 spray tip. I’m using a 315 on the railings to limit overspray and conserve paint. The 315 will give me a 6” spray pattern and the .015 is within the manufactures specifications for this product. I could have used a .017 but it would have put out a lot more paint and made it a little more difficult to control overspray and conserve paint. I hope that helps. This is a great sprayer at a very good price, but follow the directions and make sure you clean it properly and use pump armor when stored. **Q: If using outside, what sort of over spray does this create? I live on a busy street and don't want to end up getting cars parked nearby with overspray** A: I've been a painter for over 20 yrs and used many sprayers, any paint atomized to spray will float 200 ft and stick to a car with very little breeze. Buy .01 mil plastic and cover any cars within 200 ft in the direction of any breeze, it the wind is blowing towards your back yard, paint quick before it changes direction. usually spray will settle within a 10 to 20 ft area from an outside wall with the most paint being in a 3 ft area below the wall. Plastic is cheaper than painting a nice car for someone else !!! **Q: Is this electric or run by air?** A: Electric sprayer. But it is airless, you just plug it in to a 110 outlet...put the suction hose in a 5 gallon bucket of paint...and paint away! **Q: Can i paint kitchen cabinets with this paint sprayer** A: All comes down to the paint and correct tip. Was taking us about 1 hour per section to complete....We have around 35 sections! So I started to look for a paint sprayer....read a few reviews and decided to go with the Graco Magnum 257025 Project Painter Plus. Then I found out that this model may not work with the CWF Uv paint as it may be too thick! It didn't say on the can, but I found a sheet from a paint store that stated this Flood CWF needed at a Minimum a 0.017!! This model states 0.015!! I messaged Flood paints via FB and they said 0.019 but to call their 1 800# for more info, which I did! Gentleman was great, he looked up this paint sprayer and said it was more than fine to do the job, but I may want a smaller Tip to cut down on the over spray. I went with a 313 (which I ought via Amazon) My boards were about 4" wide and this tip gives about a 6" wide spray. very easy to set up, I had it up and running ina few minutes thanks to watching a few videos on Youtube. We finished the fence in 6 hours.....as since it was a stain, stil lhad to back-brush, but was super easy to do and where it excelled was being able to get the paint on the inner/edges. Super quick. And the finished product looks great. Clean up was a breeze..Youtube videos are your friend!
