I would have to turn it back on at the base. It would run for a few seconds and power off again. I had to keep the base at my location instead of having it set away from me. Batteries, and I tried several kinds, would only last for about a half hour of shutting itself off and needing to be turned back on. I tried using it for about a week several times a day without attracting one predator.It great that it has over 400 different calls, but most of them I would never use.
