This is a nice, compact guide to Biltmore Estate. If you're planning a visit, buy it. It's a quick, fun read with many wonderful pictures. But understand that this is a guide to the estate, not just Biltmore house or even the Venderbilts. It's more a gift shop guide than a biography or a history. Still there's a lot of good stuff inside.Having visited the house several times, both day and night, I can say that the color pictures in the book set me back. They are rich and warm - almost too rich and warm. If I had one quibble it is that the photography is a bit over the top. The house was a residence and would be better served by pictures that captured this quality. IMOI would liked to have seen some architect drawings or photos of its construction, but, as I said, this is a guide. It will provide the reader with motivation to visit and/or warm memories.

Planning a trip to Asheville and will stay on the grounds. Wanted an overview of what is there and the background. This book has nice pictures and also the history of the estate and how things came to be. It provided me with insight to this family and the history of the estate. The book was 'used' but arrived in almost new condition with no tears/underlining etc.
