You just take it out of the box and it is ready to go. The memory foam cushion is comfortable and robust. It keeps it shape well. Very happy with its performance so far. It matches well with my black leather office chair. The only downside is that at around 140 bucks it is a little pricey for a foot rest, but I guess you get what you pay for. If you want a really good foot rest and are willing to spend the money, you won't be disappointed.
