5-Position Classic Lay Flat Folding Backpack Beach Chair, Aluminum, Red, White, and Blue Stripe

Just took this chair to the beach for its FIRST USE and it broke!!! I reclined back and it snapped!!!! I am 5’11” and 190. Poor, pathetic materials! DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Love that it lays completely flat with the folding support bar that doubles as a towel rack when sitting in upright position. Durable. Sturdy. Comfortable. Portable. This is one of my best purchases in a long time. Love, love this chair.

I’ve been looking for the perfect Tommy Bahama chair for some time. It is on the expensive side so it’s been on my wishlist also. First of all, I love the colors of this chair! It has already caught the eyes of others, including my own daughter who already wants to nab it from me! The chair has wonderful features like the towel holder on the backside, which is big enough to carry even more than a towel. The straps to carry the chair are very study and give ample room for larger people if you want to carry like a backpack. Also, the drink holder and an additional front/side pocket, are great for your cell phone and keys. Those are perfectly positioned. It also has a great size insulated zip pocket for drinks, etc. And to top it off, this chair came w/a cool sturdy opener attached right to the chair for your drinks! What a great addition to this chair. I need nothing else but a beach, sand under my feet, and a peaceful ocean in front of me!!

I got a couple of these because I thought they were replacements for 2 other chairs I used to have and really love. I tried to find them again thinking they were Tommy Bahama. These are nice and lightweight but they are wider than my old chairs. This is good for some of my guests. I like the backpack part. These are very easy to fold up unlike some other Backpack Tommy Bahama chairs we got a couple of years ago. The plastic part was amazingly hard to get to fold up and I didn't like it at all. These are a breeze so I don't know if there was a redesign or what. I love the wood armrests on these better than the all plastic ones. They get less hot and don't burn your forearms as easily. I don't love the back pouches quite so much, but I do think the cooler part could be useful for some people. What I don't like is that there is not one big compartment like the chairs I was trying to replace. It turns out those were Rio backpack chairs. They were lighter slightly, narrower, had wood armrests and the big compartment accomodated a ton of stuff meaning sometimes I could get away with not taking an extra backpack of things to the beach with us. Anyhow these are great chairs, nice and wide for larger people, so far they have made it through one season and I hope they will last many more seasons (some people have complained they don't hold up). These are not quite as comfortable to carry as the Rio backpack chairs I got. But they do have the ability to lay completely flat which is a nice bonus. I would still get the Rio chairs for my specific way of using them, but these chairs are a close second as a choice.

This chair was very comfortable - I loved the different compartments- cup holder and a pocket your your keys, phones ect . Also had a small ice chest on the back of chair ! Great idea to pack a few drinks and snacks . The one problem that we had is that my 250lb Son sat in it - he went to shift his weight and we heard a crack - the chair didn’t break it was still functionalable but we did see a crack in the arm rest . So he cannot sit in it again. It may not be sturdy enough for bigger people .

I think this is a great beech chair with great features, BUT:As I imagine many buyers would, I took it out of the box, opened it out, sat down, enjoyed the comfort, then tried to adjust the position and almost lost a finger against an unreasonably sharp edge. Turns out it can be dangerous to put your fingers in a certain position when adjusting the seat back, and the manufacturer knows this! That's why, as I later discovered, they place the following all caps warning in the instructions: DO NOT PUT FINGERS UNDERNEATH ARMS. But who would read the instructions before first sitting down? It's a beach chair, after all! We adults have openened many before and don't imagine we need instructions except for special features. I suggest the manufacturer remedy the problem or at the very attach a prominent tag warning to one of the chair arms. Despite this issue, I was so enamored with the chair I planned to keep it, and so we took it to the beach to try. While there, when my wife tried to stand up from the chair after having been sitting in an upright position, the chairback suddenly and forcefully dropped backwards into a full 180 degree recline, with my wife on it. One of the wooden arms of the chair split, releasing the pin that connected it to the rest of the chair. That was truly dangerous. My wife is not petite, but at less than 150 lbs she's a far cry from the chair's stated weight limit of 250 lbs. In fairness, I think this may have been at least a little my wife's "fault." I'm guessing that in an effort to stand she first pulled herself forward using the chair arms, thus releasing the position lock. But still. Nothing like that has ever happened to us with a conventional aluminum beach recliner. And surely the chair should not have broken. Needless to say i'll be returning it.

SO EXCITED about this chair!! came in great condition! I love the different levels of leaning back it offers and that the poles no longer dig into your back/butt when fully reclined back. I also love the new feature of the big top pocket in the back - with my previous tommy chair it was sometimes a struggle to fit my towel in - wont be a problem with this one! I also love the three pockets on the arm rest - big zipper, cup holder and phone holder. these chairs are awesome! I had my last chair for 9 years and is now starting to get rusty. so easy to transport these coming/going from the beach and parking lot.
