The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Page brought in Plant, Bonham and Jones to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released it's self-titled debut. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest rock band in the world. Led Zeppelin continues to be honored for it's pivotal role in music history. The band was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005. Transported me Back
I grew up with Led Zeppelin and would anxiously await a new album release. This double album transported me back 50+ years to a different time before adult responsibilities were real. A fantastic escape to a time of my youth.

A "Must Own" Compilation
Either new school or old....anyone that takes pleasure in music should have at least one Zeppelin recording. Mothership and ReMasters are the albums I would recommend to today's generation. Older generations already know and own this collection of hits. This is a 'Must Own' either CD or Vinyl.

Good sampler, good sound
There are a few reasons to buy a best of Zeppelin cd like this: 1) you're new to the band and need a quick overview 2) your vinyl is all scratched up and you want to see about these new fangled cds the kids are talking about 3) you're a fanatical completist and need EVERYTHING with zeppelin's name on it 4) you have some older zep cds and want to see if Page's recent remastering hijinks have improved the sound before you spring for replacing your old ones. There are probably more, but this collection should scratch most of those itches. The sound is indeed improved and the collection is a solid representation, with tracks from all of the studio albums (except Coda). If you have the new remastered album cds, you don't need this one, and your favorite deep cuts won't be here, but it makes a good road trip cd if you're in a zep mood. Overall a good value for what you get.
