Perfect tool for whatever you’re doing. I use mine for medical purposes. Lancing infected wounds and removing splinters.

Sometimes lower cost handles don't grab the blade precisely so it is either loose, or is hard to snap in and out. This one holds blades securely without wobble. I use scalpel baldes for hobby purposes and a lot of the time you want to rotate the blade as you are cutting. A round handle like this is handier for that than the typical flat sided surgical handle.

Cheaply made junk. Doesn't even fit the blades correctly

I knew what I was getting into here. The Amazon reviews of much more expensive Sheffield made blade holders made me realize that you don't always get what you pay for so, I had faith this more than likely dysfunctional thing could be made to function. Two problems, that of course were not shown in their product photos, a blade guide groove that was cut by a jumping wheel that did not allow the blade to enter and height above the groove that in no way would allow a blade to drop at the end to pin it. Machining the groove bed flat and lowering the height enough that the blade could be slipped by hand over the positioning pin, made for a tighter held, under spring tension, 1mm by .38mm spline back Bard & Parker blade than my 1990s German Miltex holder. An hour polishing away manufacturing handwork and machine work and I have a handle that holds my blades tightly for absolute cut control that also feels more like it was made in 1926 instead of 2026. 😃 Flimsy Chinese blades may slip onto these just fine and need no rework. The length of the pin was fairly accurate though previously filed by a human. I'll give the knurling machine a 10, certain and comfortable. 1 gram heavier than a vintage Miltex.
