Review: awsome - Great seriess it was great drawing and story telling, like the twist in the supermans and different characters and personalities Review: Epic, But Not For the Reason People Think - This is in some ways the second half of the story started in Reign of the Supermen, and also the end of the death and return of Superman storyline (though there is another volume included in the series after this one). But, strangely, in a lot of ways it is vastly more devastating and intense than the Death of Superman event that kicked off this whole saga. Though the volume is primarily about the triumphant return of Superman, it comes at a huge cost--the deaths of millions of innocents. Casual DC comics readers like me are probably vaguely aware that Green Lantern's city, Coast City, suffers a horrible fate in this storyline, but it is really something else to read it unfold. The Return of Superman himself is important, yes, but it almost dwarfs in comparison to the tragedy that befalls Coast City before he comes back and manages to save the day. It's both brutal and brilliant. Superman's return would have been something to celebrate already no matter what, but his return and meting of justice against one of his most vile pretenders is made all the more satisfying because of the stakes and losses felt before his return. Really cathartic to see the Last Son of Krypton return to his rightful place, and a brilliant end to this storyline (again, excluding one more volume that acts as a coda).

The Return of Superman
An excellent conclusion to one of the most shocking 90's DC comics storylines. After the 80's Crisis of Infinite Earths, the 90's had some great storylines starting with The Death and Return of Superman.

The best out of the "quadrilogy".
Comparing the return with the reign, death and funeral parts, this one is the best. Death is simple and clean, you can even say it's a bit boring apart from the tragic event itself. Funeral is heavy with sadness and depressing. Reign is "here's four new characters, guys, whadda ya think?" And return is just good action comics. One of the four Supermen turns out to be a traitor and blows up Coast City. In the weeks (I think) following the explosion it's rebuilt as Engine City by the conspirators with the insane plan to pull Earth from orbit. It's up to the heroes to stop them. All this serves as a bombastic backdrop to great action and superheroes dramatically punching each other through the walls. Good stuff.

Great Story
Pretty awesome. I've always enjoyed this storyline and it has aged just fine. Great artwork and an interesting, unpredictable story. Would have been nice to have more background on the main villain but that's okay. Recommended!

Slow to begin with but ultimately satisfying
Good storyline, though rather drawn out. However, once the real Superman starts to take an active role in proceedings, things really pick up. Worth it in the end.

The collected return of the very first superhero
This collection gives us the chronological order of the comics published to announce the return of the first superhero Although it has few or no special features, the reader should be glad to be able to revisit this comic book classic story arc.

Superman: The Return of Superman
The cyborg Superman is unmasked as a villain when he destroys Coast City and frames the Last Son of Krypton. The Superman clone and the Man of Steel race to the machine city that has taken its place to confront the cyborg and Mongul, who plan to destroy Earth as an act of revenge against the first Superman. When Superman returns, he must fight to be recognised once more. A very engaging conclusion to 'The Death of Superman', which reinvigorates the character of Superman and reinforced why he is necessary in any age.
