PLEASE NOTE - this is a replica of the print book and you will need paper and a pencil to complete the exercises. Perfect for children ages 6-7, this workbook supports your child's spelling and word-formation skills. Topics covered in this workbook include beginning and ending conconants, vowel teams, consonant blends, and beginning and ending digraphs. Level by level, the write-in DK Workbooks: Spelling series offers at-home practice that kids actually enjoy, making them ideal supplements to schoolwork. Designed to support curriculum standards, this series is developed with leading educational experts to build confidence and understanding. For children ages 3-9, each leveled workbook is packed with activities and challenges, offering the beneficial repetition and cumulative learning that lead to mastery. Fact boxes on each page give a simple overview of the topics being covered, review the basics, and often offer an example of the task at hand. The exercises themselves reinforce key spelling topics, including: vowel sounds, syllables, irregularly spelled words, reading simple sentences, and more. And with a parents' section filled with answers, tips, and guidance, caregivers have easy access to all the expertise they need to help their children learn spelling. Review: Motivated my first-grader - We got this for my son when he was about halfway through first grade. It was especially handy after the pandemic shut down the schools and the school's online instruction was not very good. He was able to work through the book more or less on his own. I read the instructions for him and gave him about 2 pages to work on each day. He finished the whole thing, which is saying something because reading is not his favorite subject. I feel like it put him on the right path, because he's better now about working through other vocabulary books. Highly recommend! Review: Great for homeschool. - These books are great for guided lessons. I use these to go in depth with each subject.

good homeschooling or extra learning tool
I used this book for homeschooling and liked it. The lessons are brief and leave appropriate room for the parent to give more instruction on the topic. There are reward stickers to help keep you on track. Also, the progression of information is good.

Great content; expensive relative to others due to higher-quality materials
Another good but not amazing workbook from DK Workbooks. The spelling exercises themselves are quite good, so I would give the content 5 stars. I took away a star because these workbooks aren't a great value -- they are printed on heavy, glossy paper, which is lovely, but it also means that they cost more than similar workbooks despite having fewer pages. And the thick paper makes it hard to tear the pages out without them ripping inwards. Plain, cheap paper is perfectly fine for an elementary school workbook - it seems like a waste to use the fancy paper and stickers when they really don't add value of the product.

Fun and entertaining
Book is fun for 5-6 year olds and helps to educate and entertain at the same time. Book is easy to understand and follow along working with your children.

Good
I like DK books in general. We use it for a refresher or extra practice. There's not enough pages in it to use it as a full curriculum or to teach from it, but these are still really great practice books!

Excellent.
Iโve learned a few things from this book, and we went over several textbooks with my son that included phonics. All DK workbooks are excellent. Well worth investment. I highly recommend them. I Iike the thick pages and quality paper some compain about. We use a gel pen; no problem writing.

This is a Phonics booklet, not a spelling program booklet.
I am a primary teacher who has a student in need of a Grade 1 Spelling book with units and spelling words that a student could practice independently (while I was doing my reading groups). This book is more of just a phonics booklet and contains a lot of (beyond Grade 1) text/print that requires a teacher to read the instructions and/or sentences to the student. If you need a phonics booklet, it isn't too bad, but definitely not part of a spelling program. The book cover kind of fooled me into believing it was a standard spelling book, and the seller did not provide many pictures of what the book pages look like.
