Absolute best knife I own!
One of the best knives I have ever owned! I work on saltwater aquariums, so this thing is literally in or around saltwater every single day The blade is fantastic. Extremely sharp out the box and holds its edge very well. I do abuse it, so I have sharpened it a bunch, but I get it back to razor sharp so quick. Less than 5mins. Used it as a wedge, a bottle opener, smacked nail heads, staples, you name it. Almost 1 year in and color me impressed. Not a single spec of rust on it, and it locks, and flips open just fine. I bought a second one. Just to leave in the tool bench, if I ever lose this one I wanted a backup.

BEST KNIFE EVER FOR DAILY USE!
Have been using the Kershaw Leek knife for over 20 years, exact same model, the only difference is the color. Have always gone with the stainless steel. Due to this knife being on me so much, I forgot to remove it before going through TSA at the airport so lost the last one. I decided to try out the matte black version and absolutely love it! The matte finish gives it a little texture and provides a better grip. The balance, size, single handed operation, and the half serrated half smooth blade makes it a very versatile knife for everyday use. Honestly, I have yet to find a better daily knife, and do continue to look!

Sharp and well-made and fits nice
More than expected! Quality blade size just right for its size. Extending the blade is a little difficult for It's size I have to adjust grip each time so I can realese the blade without cutting myself. I think it is because I am not used to the size of the pocket knife. Pocket clip works well. As I pull the knife I have to re- adjust so I may open it which takes seconds too many in my opinion but again I think the size is new for me and keep be my fault. I prefer to keep knife clipped and not in my pocket. Overall this is a well made stiff

IMHO, this knife is best in market, only competing with itself. Finish is excellent Matte black, holds up perfectly.
I had an initially bad perception of this, it came with such a matt black that it had a sort of dry grippy texture. After use it broke in and proved to be an amazing finish. Some basic handling, no special treatment here, and you get a solid knife with a great finish. I got this for wearing with formal black pants, it clips inside my waist band because the white collar types poop their pants if you have a pocket knife these days. The finish in its matte black is invisible when clipped inside my waste back with the clip facing out but under my belt. With a shirt tucked in you are fine not having it be a deep carry clip. It's an easy draw, easy single hand operation, the finish is stout and once used keeps the matt effect but loses the undesirable feel it initially had. The blade is great, sharp, holds its edge well, the serrated portion is invaluable. IMHO this is a must have knife, the only competing option on the market is a SS finish variant. The only critique one could level is more a simple desire for a deep carry clip, but those are available on the aftermarket in black primarily. The fasteners are nicely countersunk to give a smooth feel in hand and in your pocket. The Leek (with serrated blade) is my daily driver for the last 3 years. I have 2 SS and one Black.

Excellent pocket knife
My boyfriend has had the silver stainless Kershaw knife, identical to this black one and has had it for many years and wouldnโt buy anything else. He says it is made very well and very sharp. It likes that it is a slim design when folded up and he can wear it clipped to his pants. He also likes that it has a locking mechanism on the knife, which means a lot to him for safety. He uses this often at home and work as he is a construction contractor and it comes in handy when cutting or opening items. He now wanted this black one to use off the job and as a back up as he has lost it a couple of times and not from it falling off his pants, he forgets where he puts it when he changes clothes. This one costs a little more but so worth it in his words. This knife is so harp and he also likes that it has the serrated edge on part of the blade as well. Overall this knife is well designed and very strong built , cuts with ease , like going through butter and very stylish and attractive looking. My boyfriend and I recommend this knife for performance, quality and appearance.

Great knife with a brand name you can rely on - USA Made!
I've had this knife for a little over 7 months now and it's my EDC (every day carry) knife. It's primary purpose is a utility knife to assist me in my job inside an armory. I have no issues cutting zip ties, ropes, and for the stronger stuff, the serrated edge is a great plus. It opens fast and smoothly, just as you expect with a Kershaw. The blade opens much smoother than my push-button gerber (USA made gerber) knife. One issue I do have with the knife is that the locking mechanism is simply a piece of plastic that moves over the blade and is a bit stiff and hard to move. After having this knife for 7 months, it's just as stiff as day one. I would definitely prefer some sort of locking system integrated into the release mechanism, because locking a spring-assisted knife is a must (especially when you carry it on your belt!). I did end up breaking about .25 inches off the tip of the blade, which is extremely thin, but that's my own fault as I was using the blade for something it wasn't designed for. I fixed up the blade and it now has a point on it again but due to the locking mechanism not covering the shortened blade, i no longer carry this knife (for fear of it opening and giving me a surprise). I'm planning on buying a second knife as soon as this one goes on sale again.

SHARP SHARP AND SHARPER SLIM SLEEK AND SEXY
This is the second Kershaw Onion I have bought. I have had a S.S. version without the serrations and it's been in service for over 5 years. This one came in black and has the serrated edge for more rope cutting ability and so I ordered. It will take me about 3-4 months to work this one in with oil and Mil-Tec lube, but I feel confident, so much as to say, a chain link fence can get cut to shreds if the need arises. This knife is so sharp, you seriously could use it in place of a scalpel out of the box. Be careful not to drop it because the point is beyond thin and needle like sharp. You will eventually loose it if you work with it like I do. So get over the needle nose look because it's no trophy knife. But practicality and for it's universalized ability to confine and cut, maneuver and deploy, shred all sorts of fiber and thin plastics, there is no better, slimmer and finer knife on the planet. Well done and highly satisfied. EDIT 2-20-2025 It's been just over 9 years since I purchased this gem. How many people bother to come back 9 years later and justify their purchase? Well this old bird decided to do just that because I got to tell you it saved my life almost 9 years later, after every day carry and standard use. The knife still operates like new but the bad guy who caught holy hell on the business end is gonna need some stitchin up before he decides to attack someone again. Not to mention new dental work on his next job interview with the local constable. OHHHRAH!

Great little EDC.
Great little knife. As others have noted, there isn't much reinforcement on the tip. It's thin. It's not meant to pry on anything. Don't pry on anything, or the tip WILL break. This blade is made out of very hard steel, and the drawback to hard steel is that it's brittle. It won't bend, it will break, and the tip of your knife will then resemble a flathead screwdriver. The weight is admirable. The serration is nice and clean. The DLC coating seems nice, tough, and smooth. The SpeedSafe assist opening is top-notch. It's MADE IN THE USA. It's thin, which makes it's presence negligible in a pocket. Someone mentioned that the pocket clip is flimsy, but I haven't noticed that one bit. The safety mechanism on mine engages consistently when putting it into my pocket, but 75% of the time doesn't disengage when it's removed, so I have to take a second and do that manually. No biggie. But sometimes it DOES re-engage when the blade is deployed, making me have to re-open the blade, undo the safety, and then close it. I'm slightly worried about chipping the blade or dulling the spot that contacts the safety. $10 Blade replacements through Kershaw. Free sharpenings through Kershaw. I put together a little video review which can be found here- http://youtu.be/4iuvga0Kkss

Excellent everyday knife!
This knife feels every bit a quality product. A joy to use and hold. The tip is a bit stiletto, so it needs to be treated with respect.
