Great movie really underrated has a great storyline and gives you a little bit of insight on what it's like to be in the adult industry of Dance but not completely exaggerated quite a bit actually but very good movie for the most part quite underrated but recommended nonetheless

First of all, I would like to start with a brief view of Showgirls. This movie is a total classic in my eyes. Back in 1995, it was supposed to be taken as a serious drama that showed the seedier side of being a showgirl in Las Vegas. When told that his movie was given the infamous NC-17 rating, director Paul Verhoeven said it stayed as is so not to compromise his vision. Whether it was because of this "vision" or not, the movie was universally panned by critics and audiences alike. It wasn't until about 10 years later that it started to get the notoriety that it has today. Thanks in large part to VH1's digitized bras version, Showgirls reached a much larger audience since it was able to be broadcasted on standard cable. Today it is probably our most current camp classic. Now, this particular box set is simply amazing. No longer are we looking at this movie for it's dramatic purpose. Well, maybe we are, but only because it's so bad it's good and has given us such classic quotes as "I'm a dancer!" and "I'm getting a little old for that whorey look." This box set knows it and gives you a set of shot glasses, drinking games, a poster of Nomi (topless) and pasties to play "pin the pastie on the showgirl." With these props, you are able to enjoy Showgirls the way it has grown to be excepted, drinking game and camp comedy. There are honestly times that I pull out the box set just to show people what is inside. For those who have seen the movie, they beam giggles and appreciate its camp. Others who haven't seen it just marvel in it's splendor and almost universally say they need to watch it at some point. One suggestion, watch Showgirls before you buy this set. Obviously I am a fan of this gem, but it isn't for everyone. If you fall in love with trainwreck of a movie the way I have, this box set is for you!

In 1995, "Showgirls" was released to a lot of fanfare and acclaim. Sadly, however, the movie flopped at the box office, but it has gained a sort of cult following in the years since its original release. As for the movie itself, Elizabeth Berkley of "Saved By The Bell" fame stars as Nomi Malone, a young girl with no family members (you'll find out why later in the movie) who decided to go to Las Vegas to pursue her dream of becoming a chorus line showgirl. Deciding to hitchhike her way to stardom, she is picked up by a seedy fellow in a pick up truck who tells Nomi that his uncle is a host at the Rivera hotel. Of course, naive Nomi believes him and much to her chagrin, she finds that he took off with all of her stuff. However, Nomi's luck changes as Molly Abrams (Gina Rivera) helps Nomi by taking her in. Soon, Nomi finds herself working at the Cheetah club, a topless bar full of rough characters. However, she manages to catch the attention of two of the customers: Cristal Conners (Gina Gershon) and her boyfriend Zack Carey (Kyle MacLachlan). Cristal is the main attraction at a show called "Goddess" showing at the Stardust hotel. After a $500 lapdance, Cristal manages to get Nomi an audition for a vacant showgirl position in the show. Nomi secures the part and is soon living her dream, but the rivalry between the somewhat older Cristal and new kid on the block Nomi is just heating up. Nomi has her sights set on the lead in the show, while Cristal is trying her best to hang onto perhaps her one last time in the spotlight. Meanwhile, Zack has taken a keen interest in Nomi, and they have a wild make-out session in his pool. Soon, Nomi is moved up to be Cristal's understudy, but Cristal threatens to leave the show if Nomi becomes the understudy. This leads to a series of events that leaves Cristal in a hospital bed and Nomi as the center of attraction. Nomi's friend Molly even fails to escape the series of events. Will Nomi remain on top, or will she "fall", just as Cristal did? Despite all of the bad reviews this movie received, it really isn't that bad; in fact, its quite good in spots. Elizabeth Berkley did nothing to enhance her acting career as Nomi, but Gina Gershon and Kyle MacLachlan are very good as the seductive and controlling Cristal and her puppy dog boyfriend Zack. The NC-17 version has several rather graphic scenes, so use caution when viewing the film. I recommend this film. I did enjoy watching it, and the story is actually quite good. If you like a lot of nudity then this movie is for you. If you like good acting, then don't bother.

A good look at one's self. I found this movie and the characters to be a joke but I was enthralled with the star's looks as all the characters in her orbit. And I suppose that the moral of the story.

昔にDVDで借りて観たもので、セクシーでいいなあ と思ってた作品で、ブルーレイのノーカット版は観る価値はあると思います。内容は田舎町からダンサーを目指してラスベガスに来た主人公の女性がトップダンサーにはなったものの、友人との亀裂、挫折を味わいますが、最後は友人との仲が戻り、田舎に帰って行く内容となってます。

Ik had de vroegere editie, nu heb ik de recente herstelde film op Blu Ray. Zeer mooie film, erotisch, mooie dansscènes, goede acteurs en bijzondere actrice, ook liet ze zich niet doen. Ze kan haar man staan. Vlug geleverd door Amazon Nl. Prime. Dank U. Groetjes, Paul.
