I was a little leery about whether or not this data would be "true" and accurate. After getting our results back, we knew with 100% certainty that it was! Specifically, we have a dog with a very unique physical trait - he has a short tail - much shorter than it should be for his breed. When we received his results, one of the "genetic" markers shown that our dog carriers a gene specific to this anomaly. The results explained that this genetic "trait" came from 1 parent, because if he had inherited the gene from both parents he would never have been born. Dogs that carry 2 of this gene die in utero and are reabsorbed by the mother's body. Very specific information for sure! Very detailed results provided. Thank you WISDOM - loved this!

This has definitely been one of my better spur of the moment purchases. First of all, the kit is extremely easy to use with ample directions, guidance and outreach from the company. There was no stress on my dog at all when gathering the sample. I received constant updates from the company letting me know the status of the process as they were completing the testing. I was very happy with--and surprised by--results. There is an option to purchase additional health related information based on your dog's genetic makeup. I did purchase it and it was informative, but I am not certain that I would purchase it again. I highly recommend this product--you may get a few surprises when you receive the results!

I struggled to choose between this and embarq. I ultimately went with wisdom due to pricing and reviews. Set up was easy, website is straightforward. I did NOT include pictures of my dog because I wanted to see what their "traits and characteristics" would look like with no input from pictures. So, the sample came back with results within 5 weeks. I was happy with the quick turnaround. We had rescued a dog and he looked like a min pin but definitely bigger so we knew a mix. I'm thoroughly impressed with the results. We were shocked at the different breeds and percentages but they nailed the traits with no hints. I've included pics to show what he looks like and some of their predictions. Pretty spot on. Their testing is accurate with markings, coat type, and breed traits. He's definitely a terrier through and through. Overall, I would recommend.

I have been using Wisdom Panel tests for many years for all my dogs. This updated version now includes several more health traits as well as behavior traits. It gives me a wonderful insight in what to expect from my new puppy as well as any health issues to look out for. Testing is easy and results were received within 2 weeks.

I adopted a six-year-old dog from a shelter! People frequently ask what kind of dog she was and I had no idea and I would just say she’s a rescue! Now, thanks to wisdom panel know exactly what her background is and it is wonderful! They were right on point down to her hind dew claw which no one would know she had! I am just amazed at the accuracy!

We adopted a dog that looks a lot like a corgi except for some chihuahua around the eyes, and the legs were definitely not corgi-like. So, tired of telling people "we don't know, but we think he's part corgi and chihuahua," we ordered this. Turns out, not a corgi at all! He just happened to get similar traits from his cocktail of genes that match the general look of a corgi, but it's nice to know what he is after all! It was easy enough to use even with our picky/nervous boy - was worried we didn't get enough genetic material but it seemed to work fine. Accuracy I'm assuming is correct for now, as we'll probably not invest more funds on other testing to compare. Some of the Traits weren't quite right ("likely floppy ears" when his are opposite of that), but overall had some interesting insights that held true. It's the nature of genetic testing, but I feel some of the traits are simply based on his mix of breeds instead of actual genes for those traits. It was at least nice to know he doesn't have genetic predisposition to certain health issues, so I appreciated that (assuming it's accurate). Overall, happy with this test and glad we finally did it! I guess the biggest thing I'd want is a simple one-page printout of the information presented on the website. I also wish I didn't have to make a login - this is kind of a one-time thing and now there's yet another login out there that will likely get breached in the future, as all eventually do. So it'd be nice to get a nice 1-2 page color PDF report I can print out for keeps. Still, it is what it is, and I'm glad there are services like this so we can understand our furry creatures' backgrounds.

Im so happy I bought this test because the last DNA test I bought was highly inaccurate! I was told that my dog is border collie but she actually isnt! She has some herding breeds in her but her main breeds are guarding! I really wanted to find her relatives and turns out she has 2 close relatives but unfortunately they dont live near us. I sent the test on Monday and they received it on Saturday and it only took 1 week for them to give me back the results! Im also happy that she doesnt have any health issues! Overall I love this test and I recommend it to anyone who wants to do a DNA test for their dog!

I did a cheaper version of the Wisdom Panel DNA test when my rescue was a puppy. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about the different breeds that make up my sweet puppy! With the first dna test, I learned that Snickers is mostly Chihuahua, Pomeranian, and Yorkie - with a little hunting dog and toy breeds thrown in there! Hunting dog made me laugh because she’s only 10 lbs! Well, the Wisdom Panel PREMIUM gave me a lot more information. I discovered she has 9% BEAGLE (from Hunting group) and only 7% Yorkie! It detected a total of 14 specific breeds - you see pics of each different breed, as well as info about the personality and physical traits. I believe some of the unusual breeds are from way back in her lineage. I enjoyed learning about the physical variants and how many copies of each one she has in her dna (for ex. She has 2 copies of the FURNISHINGS variant which explains her beard and wispy hairs on her ears and eyebrows) This part of the PREMIUM test, shows how likely or unlikely she is to have certain coloring or brown nose, lips, and paw pads (as opposed to black), and likelihood to shed. It also tests for a number of possible health issues she may face in the future. Luckily she has 0 but understand this doesn’t guarantee that she will never have any health issues. I highly recommend giving your mixed breed dog this DNA test - the Wisdom Panel Premium is the most informative and thorough but is also more expensive. If you need the cheaper version, it’s still very helpful and fun.
