Is this gluten and dairy free?

The chicken product is dairy free HOWEVER it does use MALTODEXTRIN - the USA this additive is usually made from corn but in Europe it is made from wheat - according to Wikipedia: " In the US, this starch is usually corn; in Europe, it is commonly wheat. Some individuals suffering from gluten-related disorders may be concerned by the presence of wheat derived maltodextrin but it is highly unlikely to contain significant (20 mg/kg or 20ppm) amounts of gluten. Maltodextrin derived from wheat is exempt from labeling, as set out in Annex II of EC Directive No 1169/2011.3. However, wheat-derived maltodextrin is not exempt from allergen declaration in the United States per FALCPA 4, and its effect on a voluntary gluten-free claim must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis per the applicable US FDA policy."I have celiac and have never had a problem with this product but some people are more sensitive than others.  If you are worried or unsure, then I would avoid it.  Also, they are not a gluten-free facility so cross contamination might also be a problem.

Ingredients in the "Organic"  Better than Bouillon" Chicken base are listed as follows: "Chicken Meat with Natural Juice*, Salt, Cane Juice Solids*, Maltodextrin*, Flavoring*, Yeast extract, Potato Starch*, Turmeric*, Natural Flavor*.    The * = Organic.    There is also a "Superior Touch" Better than Bouillon Chicken Base that contains the following: Chicken meat including natural meat juices, Salt, Sugar, Corn Syrup Solids, Chicken Fat, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Dried Whey (Milk), Flavoring, Disodium Inosinate and Guanylate and Turmeric. Both taste like real chicken broth. If you are concerned about chemical additives, I'd stick with the Organic version.  Hope this helps.
