To a nurse: 'i'm a nurse as well and used these to cover fentanyl patches. Could they also be used under water? Swimming? Beyond a bed bath?

Hi,
I’m not a nurse unfortunately, however, I do use these and have been doing so since 2010 to adhere my 100MCG fentanyl patch to my skin so I can be absolutely sure that it doesn’t drop/fall off of me without my knowing.  That has happened to me before, and I learned the hard way that I need to make sure it stays on me until I change it 72 hours later.

I use an alcohol prep wipe to clean my skin of oils and anything that might interfere with the adherence of it to my skin.  I use the little attached sticker to write the date I placed it on and the date that it needs to be changed and then cover my pain patch.  It fits over the 100 MCG patch perfectly with enough leeway to cover over each edge by about a half centimetre, completely sealing the patch in and on my skin without budging at all until I remove it.

What does picture frame mean?  Is it only sticky on the edges?

After pulling off the backing on the sticky side, place the dressing  over wound.  There will be a white piece of edging, a firm paper, about 1/2" wide all around the outside of the dressing.  It will peel off after you put the dressing on the wound.  Smooth down the outside edge of the dressing after removing picture frame.  This particular clear dressing will let the wound breath, keeping it clean and assisting in the healing process.  Sorry, a bit of a type A personality!

Can you apply more than one to cover a larger area? Do they stick to each other?

I am not sure you would want to as the sticky edge would stick to the area you are covering. Maybe if you use the petroleum jelly infused gauze where they over lap it might work, but it would be better to get a bigger size.
