We are now in the realm of the traditional novel, where people play their parts in society, while in their heads they cast about for ways to make those parts better—and to try to figure out what in the world the other players are up to!It's absorbing, particularly in this Japanese setting, where I've slowly learned from other sources there are LOTS or rules on how to behave, and people tend to obey them, in the process becoming ever more mysterious to each other.Read carefully as the everyday mysteries and challenges proliferate in volume 9. Wataru Watari's series My Youth Romantic Comedy is Wrong as I expected speaks to a deep need within all of us to self actualize. Wataru is very eloquent and modern in his speech while still being very easy to connect to. This is the English translation so I would be remiss if I didn't note how Jennifer Ward made this work accessible and relate able for the English speaking world.
