ATP B-165 Automatic Transmission Filter Kit

Great Product, Works Perfect for our needs and easy to install.

The filter is, of course, just like one you would get from Wix or anywhere else -- externally speaking. Perfect fit. Lubed it with fresh ATF and it smoothly pushed into the transmission. One tip: check with your finger to see if the seal is in good condition, which it should be normally. If so, do not even think for a second that you want to replace it. Take a look at the new one that came with the filter, and swiftly toss it in the garbage. If you read one of those Chilton repair manuals that make taking the old seal out as easy as if it were a simple, traditional seal or o-ring, forget that passage. On a different vehicle but same core transmission, I did try to take out the seal. That, then, necessitated taking it out as you will damage the seal. So, that was an ordeal. I even asked the transmission mechanic at the local dealership about it; he said they never take that seal out unless you absolutely have to. The gasket is the best I have used so far regarding installation. This may not be unique to ATP, but the "third hand" little grabber holes are awesome. I put three bolts a few turns in into the gasket, which then stayed in place. That was very helpful, because for my application I had to tilt the pan and slide one corner into place at an angle because of the shifter cable bracket. It worked like a charm without effort.

The gasket that came with this kit was torn and unusable. I specifically use ATP Transmission kits because of the thicker pan gasket. I've used ATP before with no issues. Don't know if this is a ATP quality control issue or was damaged in shipping from Amazon. The box it came in looked rough so make your own determination. Back to ground zero.

Great value for the price. Gasket isn't perfectly aligned but useable in my 2003 GMC Envoy XL 4.2L. 3 days with no leak. The filter seems to be doing its job. Fast installation. Durable. Overall all great size and fit.

I will not be going to the dealer again! If you're looking at this you probably already have...CRAZY prices! really shouldn't have been shocked. Anyway almost to another transmission change and I haven't noticed anything different from the first time I changed the fluid. Everything looks exactly the same as far as materiel and quality. I may order 2 next time so I'll have one on hand so there's no delay with the mail and then order after the fluid change.

The Filter kit is great just remember to remove gasket from box prior to use to let gasket flatten back out from packaging

Works and fits like it should

Fit like original. The 3rd hand gasket is handy to hold gasket in place while installing.

Part was supposed to fit, but didn’t. I ordered it months before I was going to install it, so return was not available.
