Need to secure Christmas tree (in box) which measures 66 inches around. Will this size work?** A: The MAX expansion is 48 inches UNSTRETCHED length. You can shorten it. It will stretch past the 48 inches, as that is NON-taunt. I know you can get MORE length by stretching, but I don't think that another 18 inches is achievable. Obviously, you can adjust it shorter, then add a second bungee, which would give you the length you need and ALSO thicker in general for better tensile strength. **Q: How do they adjust to a certain length?** A: The maximum stretch value is around 48 inches. To get a better TAUT tension at, say, 32 inches, undo the bungee adjustment and take it down to about 22 - 24 inches total length, then lock it in place, and bingo, stretch it out to the desired length. If it is too slack, take it down to 20 inches and try again. This really isn't rocket guys. I was using longer length bungees with knots tied in them to make the right length. These old ones started to wear and fray from sunlight. I found these adjustable bungees and they do the trick. These bungees are adjustable on both ends. I also wanted these because of the coated hooks, they would be less likely to scratch the car surfaces. One odd thing was that the shorter ones were more expensive then these 32 inch ones. They are adjustable, so I went for the LEAST expensive 10 pack. They work perfectly.
