It is full tanged with a man made leather cord wrapped tsuka or handle. The wooden saya, or scabbard is wrapped by brown leatherette and embossed golden skulls. The shoulder straps on the scabbard are adjustable and removable. The sword has double mekugis, or pegs, and is razor sharp right out of the box. It is an exceptional sword, especially for the price. To protect the blade from corrosion, a layer of mineral oil has been applied prior to packaging. Please understand you may find the blade covered in yellowish oil waxy residue that makes the sword look dirty/used, however, this is a necessary protection for the carbon steel blade not rusting. You may also find minor scratches on the blade that is formed during the hammering process. This is a nature of the hand forged sword.
