Fabulous crochet stitch reference
This is my favorite crochet stitch book. It took me a bit to learn how to read the stitch chart but once I understood how to read the charts, I found them easier to follow than other books that show photos of hooks and yarn. It includes stitches for a variety of projects from ripple blankets to clothing and accessories. I appreciate that it includes instructions for granny squares and borders as well as basic stitches and open work designs. A must have for those who like to design their own blankets, sweaters and accessories.

Should be in every beginner’s library!
This book is EVERYTHING!!!! Well worth the wait. Easy to read and understand. You will actually learn to read charts and patterns. It’s an absolute must have.

Not always clear
I want to give this 5 stars but I can’t. The instructions are in diagrams only and not always clear. The pictures are labeled as rows 1, 2, etc. but they’re not clear on which side it should be going. While I appreciate the chart key to remind you of what each stitch is and how to do it, the instructions on the individual stitches reminds me of someone who has never taught crochet before. There is also a weird section in the “edging and border” section. There are some very pretty edges shown but there’s nothing to say how to turn corners. If it doesn’t have a corner, what is the purpose? I highly recommend practicing the stitches. I’m an intermediate crocheter, I don’t recommend this book for beginners. There are 440 patterns.

If it had to choose one crochet book, this would be it for me.
This book is exactly what I have been looking for in a crochet book. Clearly explained, beautiful stitch patterns, and full color pictures fill each page. My only complaint would be that the pattern is not written, they chose to use diagrams. However, for me, this was a godsend as I can now read a diagram.

Handy guide to modern crochet stitches
Fantastic value from Amazon. A handy reference guide to modern crochet stitches. Recommended for anyone who likes to dapple in their own construction of blankets, scarves & wraps. Encourage pairing this with a book on crocheted edges.

Absolutely Complete!
Unless you want to branch or in amigurumi or something like that, you don't need smooth crochet book. This will give you all the basics and explain each type of input so you can create your own things yourself. It has textures, edges, granny squares, chevrons, all types are in there. I've included a few images of the wiring instructions so you can get an idea of how it is explained. I've never worked with drawn patterns before, but the book explained it easily enough. Great reference book to have!
