European 'Pink' vinyl pressing of the 2005 album from the Queen of Pop with Stuart Price, Blood shy & Avant and Mirwais on production duties and includes the single 'Hung Up' which sees a sampling of the classic ABBA hit 'Gimme Gimme Gimme'. 12 total tracks. Maverick. 2006. Review: Great CD. Maybe the best she's done - If you love Madonna & Love to dance. Absolutely great!! Review: Second only to "Like A Prayer" - Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor is a welcome return to what she does best--making shameless dance pop! I'm not going to review every song here, but will cover a few highlights. First a word about INSTRUMENTATION: Overall, the album has a full, almost orchestral quality. Basslines are deep, growling and pulsating. Live- and synth-strings accent Madonna's vocals, and while this is an electronic album overall, it sounds and feels very organic. Others have likened it to "Producing a Phil Spector `Wall of Sound'-style album for the dance floor"--and I agree! The much talked-about CONTINUOUS MIX of the album is done extremely well. It's not the `128 beats of unremarkable overlap between each song' that one typically hears on DJ-mix CDs. It is a more traditional, symphonic style of segueing between songs. In some cases, the songs are simply butted together and sound seamless because they share a consistent tempo and instrumentation. In other cases, a final melody from one song will carry into the next, subtly fading away during the first verse. The effect is almost unnoticeable during a casual listen, but music aficionados will find themselves listening to these transitions over and over, picking up new details on which instruments are from the previous track, and which are from the next. It's an elegant and amazing effect. Now, for the songs: Rumor has it WB is considering five singles. I'm sure you know "Hung Up" by now, so let's skip to other likely candidates. JUMP - Easily the best song on the album, and far better than Hung Up. Likely to be single #3. Madonna's vocal delivery is somewhere between "Keep it Together" and "Rescue Me", and she sells the song beautifully. It also has an incredible string obbligato part similar to the one in "Causing a Commotion." At about 120 BPM the rhythm is reminiscent of Information Society, and the tempo is excellent for dance pop. Expect great remixes in the 128-130 range on this one (Hello WB? Ralphi Rosario please!) SORRY - Rumored to be single #2. A great song which, following the more straightforward Hung Up and Get Together, has a frantic pace in comparison. Reminiscient of her "Till Death Do Us Part," but without the unhappy subject matter. This one is all fun, energy, and sass. HOW HIGH - Has that slight postpunk/pop rhythm, similar to Kylie Minogue's "Come into My World." One of the few truly introspective songs on the album, but despite being in a minor (or diminished, I can't quite tell) key, it is not the least bit depressing. It comes across as defiant. Not the sure-bet that Jump and Sorry are, but in an edited length it can be a radio hit. FUTURE LOVERS - Recreates the bubbling, pulsating bassline from Donna Summer's "I Feel Love," however here, Stuart Price deepens the bass and adds a heavier bass drum. The spoken parts of the vocal are similar to Kylie Minogue's "Light Years", but the choral vocal is much more immediate. A great song as is for clubs, but could also be a radio hit if it were tightened up a bit. PUSH - This one feels more urban than the rest of the album because of Madonna's staccato vocal delivery. It's sassy and quite catchy. With at least six single-worthy songs and others that have great club rhythms, I recommend this album to any dance or pop music fans. The continuous mix makes skipping songs unnecessary (there are at most two skip-worthy songs on the album), and appreciators of good music production should love how well this continuous effect was done.

A review of sorts......
Like (most) every other gay on the planet I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new Madge album. I admit I got a copy of it a few weeks ago from a friend but I also had already pre-ordered it.......so it's not quite that illegal, right? Anyways, the album has been utter ear-candy for me with each song catchier than the next. It's just the remedy to liven myself up within these increasingly dark times and a great reminder that we all need to have a bit of joy in our lives. Each song is like a cocaine fueled evening of laughter...... I highly recommend it. So many people hated her last album but, personally, I think it's her best. 'American Life' moved me in many ways and helped me get through a hard time in my life. Too many complained that it sounded like noise to their ears but didn't stop to really hear the actual song medleys. The music was stunning and the words....nothing like what she has written before. Beyond personal. The album further cemented my love of her ever-evolving character. I am one grateful soul to the one we call M-A-D-O-N-N-A. She's been around since I was a young lad and I still remember the first time her name was uttered to me. I remember the day that my sister, my neighbor, and I all gathered 'round the record player to groove to her songs. Time and time again she has blown me away with her visuals (let's not get into her concerts either..........other than to say WOW). Time and time again she has blown me away with her staying power. There is, sad to say, no one else like her. I'm surprised how many try to emulate her but come nowhere near what she has to offer.....and the bitch is 47!!!! I've been on other blogs that trash her and then read on these same blogs praise for the likes of Jessica Simpleton, Avril Whatever-her-name-is, Britney No-talent, etc. What do they have to offer other than their same-old, same-old brand of watered down blond bimbo? Madonna will be remembered long after she is gone from this world.....the word 'icon' comes to mind actually. I pity today's kid culture....who do they have to aspire to? I, Myself, feel damn lucky to have grown up with Madonna I mean, c'mon, this woman had a cultural impact on the world. Nobody else, ever, has gone into the territory she has in such a public way. Don't get me wrong.....others have toyed with certain themes but she balls-out embraces/promotes such ideas as: Self-expression, tolerance, change, spirituality, sexuality, WOMAN-power, so on and so on. She's taken on politics and religion.....two distorted belief systems that play a big hand in our day to day lives. Yet people try and knock her down. I don't get it. Why aren't they knocking back the people who really deserve it? Sooooo to make a very long post short......support her ass....buy her album..... listen to it as often as you please....... be happy....... enjoy life........ and let's ALL start to turn the tide of bigotry that is sweeping our Nation/ World!!!!

Madonna does it again - no surprise..
I've been pretty much listening to madonna'a music since grade school, and without a doubt madonna has become a music ICON and inspiration to singers like britney spears. It's amazing that she is still making music... after all these years filled with controversy. publicity, and criticism, and yet she always held her head up high, and just doing what she wanted (see madonna truth or dare) I have pretty much listened and own every madonna album.. and always enjoyed her catchy songs that had alot of meaning. She still is beautiful and will always have what many singers/songwriters wont...... originality. I heard samples of confessions on a dance floor, and it sounded great to me even though the clips were short, so i bought the cd on amazon, with expedited shipping. I wanted to listen to this album a little at a time, but as i began to listen to it, i was already on track 6..... and was obviously enjoying it... so i finished it and was all sweaty. (whenever i listen to an album i love and when i'm spiritually connected to the music. i get chills and i sweat, but it's almost like meditation, because alot of the songs were mellow and relaxing and had beautiful rhythms, like soft techno but with singing. Also there are the tracks that are upbeat and you can definately dance to. I give this cd 5 stars, among my fav's are hung up, sorry, let it will be, and forbidden love. In fact one track made me a bit sad because i was relating to the words...... in "jump" which is about making changes in your life, and stop wasting time, and how you feel like you're stuck but all you have to do is go for it.. but also when she was singing jump hold my hand. previously i was thinking of suicide but that came from my life of misery and abuse, and losing everyone i cared about, and sometimes you think of just giving up.... but then the words were inspiring..... like "i wanna get a place of my own" and boy do i ever..... cuz i still live with my old man and annoying obnoxious verbally abusive brother. But like the song said, i can choose to leave and take a different path. And the song really hit me hard. I guess what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I'm still here. But enough about that. I've always been a fan of madonna, and she (like me) doesn't care what others think and she has always had a wild freakish side and has done some pretty crazy things over the years, so i always think of her as a one of a kind woman who has been an inspiration to women to just be themselves, be true, and be real.

It grows on you......
I, like many others who have posted, am a huge Madonna fan and buy everything she puts out, on the day it comes out and can usually find no fault with the material. I usually disagree with all the critics and wonder "what were they thinking when they criticized this album or that album, they obviously were not listening to the same album I was". And, again this was true with Confessions. That is why this review is so long after the release date. I had read all the pre-release reviews, which were the most positive reviews I had seen for a Madonna album, I got excited. As the days to release dwindled, I got more and more anxious. I was excited to see what new twist she was gonna throw in, what new buttons she would push, what new messages she would have to impart. and then the day came, and I rushed out and bought the album and put it in and..........and......next track....and....next track.....and....and so forth. End of the CD comes and I just sit there, numb. No messages, nothing we haven't heard before, nothing shocking. Disappointment set in. Then I went online to see if it was just me that felt this way and people who also called themselves "HUGE FANS" were bashing away. So, I pulled the CD out, put it on the shelf, and figured I would just have to wait for the next album. Fast forward to Dec when the special edition came out. I decided to order it just so my collection was complete. It arrived and since I had nothing else in the car, I popped it in. What a difference some fresh ears brought. I knew "Hung Up" and feel it was the perfect choice for the first single. But I was surprised at how much I enjoyed every other track on the album. Are there "deep, meaning laden" lyrics? Not so much. But, lyric's with a message are what she has been criticized for on the past 4 or 5 albums. Either they have been too far out and convoluted or too political. None of those here....But they will stick with you regardless. Is there forward thinking, new, experimental music and beats? Not so much. Again, many people have complained she did too much of that on the past few albums. She even got flack for actually learning to play and using a guitar! Well, you won;t get any of that here. Actually, it sounds very retro. And if you have read about the sampling of her own and others music, don't expect to recognize it. Most isn't blatant, and even as a fan, I had to listen a few times to get some of them. One note: On Push, which is about the support her hubby Guy Ritchie gives her, she does use a kind of sample in lyrics of a Sting song. Well, for anyone that doesn't know, Sting and his wife introduced her to Guy, so it makes sense. I now find myself listening to the entire album over and over and enjoying it every time. I had hoped for something different, but she basically gave everyone that has been complaining for the past 10 years exactly what they asked for. A CD that is just light, fluffy, harmless, non-threatening dance music. And by trying to not push anyones buttons, she has ended up pushing just as many as before. But this time it seems to be her fans that are irritaed, while the critics love it. I find the album very enjoyable (except the "dork" line in " I love New York", even that bugs me...grrrrrrrr) and can be easily listened to over and over, after you get over the shock of not being shocked. Is it her best? Definately not. But, it is light, danceable fun and I think that is what she was going for. And if you listen closely, you just may find there are some messages buried in there none the less. It is definately better than alot of stuff out there posing as music today and at least I can dance while I wait for the next Brilliant album to come from Lady M.

Madonna @$%^!&# nailed this one!!!!!
It takes one hell of a great album for me to bother writing a review that's just going to be lost among 500 or 1000 others. I can't wait to see what gets released as singles here because, honestly, almost anything on the CD could be a hit. It seems like any artist as popular as Madonna gets either 1 or 5 stars from every reviewer, every time they release a new album, due mostly to their persona. I hate to seem like I'm falling into that trend, but I can't give this album anything less than 5 stars. There's just no reason that this shouldn't be her most popular album. First, when has Madonna ever stayed the same from one album to the next? Sure, there are similarities between Music & American Life, and between True Blue & Like a Prayer, but repetition is just not her thing. So why shouldn't this album have a disco feel to it? I can't even really call it disco, because, like everything else Madonna does, it's her (unique) version of a style. I can hear bits of "Into the Groove" "Skin" "'Til Death Do Us Part" and "Die Another Day" all over this disc & still say there's nothing repetitous about any of it. I think anyone who gave this album 1 star b/c Madonna's "lost it" or any one of the other lame, unsupportable slaps I've read here needs a reality check: this isn't 1986, "Open Your Heart" has already had its day, tastes have changed. Even if Madonna HAD just recorded more updated soundalikes of her older hits, even the most hardcore fans wuold still find something to complain about. I became a fan of hers when the Ray of Light album came out. I get chills when I hear "La Isla Bonita" or "Frozen". I cringe when she starts rapping about yoga and pilates in "American Life" or whines "c'mon, c'mon...let's celebrate" in "Holiday". I would say I'm very objective when it comes to music overall &, weak lyrics in "I Love New York" notwithstanding, this is one incredibly strong album. It can't & shouldn't be compared to anything Madonna's done before based on content - but I would say the only album in her catalog that's as consistently strong & catchy throughout is Like a Prayer. Held against both the current crop of pop music and her own history, it would be an injustice if "Confessions on a Dancefloor" doesn't bring Madonna some of the greatest commercial success and critical acclaim of her career.

wow!
"i love new york" ist richtig cool, madonnas stimme wird vom einem tiefen hall begleitet, der aber kรผhl wirkt. madonna macht hiermit klar, was sie toll an dieser stadt findet mit leichter agression wie "new york is not for little pussys who's scream" die trommeln wirken sehr treibend... "future lovers" sehr trancig, bass wie typisch disco aus dem 70er, sehr verspielte stimme-percussion... "forbidden love" erinnert am anfang wie die lieder von enigma, der song etwas ruhiger als der rest...elektronische nette mรคnnliche stimme begleitet madonna auf dieser stark vertrรคumte reise... ach, ich konnte mich vor freude wundschreiben... KAUFEN!
