Golden Introductory Acrylic Gel Mediums & Molding Paste Set

Normally when you see a kit like this it is way jacked up on price but this is a true value for your money. I just got started into mixed media canvas art and I want to use these to do all kinds of fun stuff but I like to test things out and see what I think will work best for my pieces and not just rely on what someone in a youtube video suggests (not that there is anything wrong with that.) so I did some price comparisons and this is a great deal. It might be a little over per ounce on a couple of them but certainly worth it to be able to give them all a good go. As well as the actual jars of different mediums and textures you get a folded brochure that tells you a little how each one might be used to give use newbies a bit of a guideline to go by and then we let our imaginations take us the rest of the way. As for the particular items in the box you get the following in 2 oz little plastic jars: * Soft Gel (gloss) : Used for glazing and other uses where transparency is needed * Regular Gel (semi-gloss) : Good for extending paint without changing the consistency * Extra Heavy Gel (Matte) : Blend with acrylic colors to increase body. Great for peaks. * Light Molding Past : Is super light so you can build up the layers and holds nice stiff peaks * Coarse Pumice Gel : Blend with colors to get the textured, pebbled look * Clear Tar Gel : You can get fine lines and details by mixing with color and dripping it from a palate knife. I am new to painting and wanted to try gels/mediums and this was a ton of fun to experiment with. I was painting on 11x14s and the gels lasted me more than three paintings. I got a lot more use out of them than I expected. I am glad I didn't just buy a 16oz container of heavy matte gel without first trying a few different products. I am most likely going to load up on the soft gel and semi gloss now.

Golden makes excellent paint mediums. I'd have preferred a slightly different mix of mediums, but this set offers good value. A "pick your own set of mediums" would be a super alternative to this one. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase.

I paint and since I am always looking for different effects this looked like an inexpensive way to check them out. Truly amazing, I have been playing and the possibilities seem endless. I am so glad I gave these a try. I am still finding new ways to add texture and even watercolor effects!

What a great way to try new mediums. I ordered this set so that I could try golden acrylic mediums. It has not disappointed me. The group is varied and comes with an introduction and usage guide for each medium. I recommend it if you want to try new techniques without breaking the bank buying larger sizes of the products.

to anyone who wants to play with different gels and textures without committing to a huge bottle that you otherwise might not use. It allows you the opportunity to see which is the best fit for you...then you can go and spend $$$ on a big bottle! Great option GOLDEN!

I liked the variety to try. Glad there was a description of each item also. That helped a bunch.

Im giving this product 3 stars because the Light Molding Paste was all dried out when I received the package. This a great kit to start exploring medium and grounds and I will definitely continue purchasing Golden products.
