I assume as this can do for 1 person (1/2cup uncooked rice) it won't burn like other rice cookers for up to 4 people?

Yes it can There is a minimum level of rice and water which makes the perfect amount of rice for one person. I haven’t managed to burn rice yet.

How long does it take to cook porridge/ any advice on this? I am hoping to take into the Office so I don't have to use the communal microwave.

Makes great porridge & using the preset program it takes 1 hour. I load the ingredients the night before & use the timer so it's ready for breakfast. 1 measure of Oats + 3 measures of Almond Milk + a good helping of Cinnamon & a dash of Maple Syrup.

Can I cook pilau rice or flavoured rices in it (eg saffron) or is it only for plain rice?
