Had I fully tightened the extension to the body first, I might have ended up with the hose outlet pointing upwards. I greased both sides of both hose washers to reduce friction when tightening: Oatey Plumber's Faucet and Valve Grease. Check your drop ear elbow is screwed firmly to blocking to counter the force needed to rotate the NPT threads. Don't forget to slide the escutcheon on before tightening! Oh, and they include gloves!
