Blunt, James - All the Lost Souls [Vinyl] - desertcart.com Music Review: Great Follow-Up! - I bought this album with out hearing any singles. I based my purchase on his first, "Back to Bedlam." I have to say I love this album too! This time there is more piano tracks then on the first. I have always enjoyed his heart felt lyrics. Blunt is good song writer by his way of touching on several areas of the human existance. Some of his songs tell something we have all been through or know of a person that has experienced the same issue. "1973" - This is my favorite song on the album. I think it is one that can be (and is)played again and again. "One of the Brightest Stars" "I'll Take Everything" "Same Mistake" - A track which has decent lyrics: "I'm not calling for a second chance, I'm screaming at the top of my voice, Give me reason, but don't give me choice, Cause I'll just make the same mistake again" It tells a good story about his love and how he screwed up. "Carry You Home" "Give Me Some Love" "I Really Want You" "Shine On" "Annie" "I Can't Hear the Music" If you have Back to Bedlam you will like/love All Lost Souls. It is more of the same but different, if that makes any sense. Good CD. I have to agree with Victoria Newton of The Sun who called the CD cover the "best in years",The cover consists of hundreds of pictures of Blunt (from childhood to recent) which forms a photomosaic of his face. Review: BRILLIANT SECOND EFFORT - James Blunt was recently asked which artists material he enjoyed listening to and quickly responded he very much enjoyed the Killers although he frankly admitted he had not yet had an opportunity to pickup or listen to their sophomore effort Sam's Town. I'd like to point out to Mr. Blunt that when he does get around to it, as is the case with another band with an incredible debut effort, Maroon 5, he is likely to be somewhat disappointed by their follow-up efforts. Such is not the case with Mr. Blunt. Having just completed three successive listens, I believe Blunt has outdone his absolutely brilliant debut effort. He has assembled a talented tight band that shines throughout the album with nary a weak moment. I imagine his multitalented bass player, Malcolm Moore, who like Blunt possesses a remarkable voice, must be in heaven playing the heavy bass led song 1973, the first of many singles to come off this rich and inspired album. I eagerly anticipate hearing this new material live at his show next week here in Los Angeles and can only imagine what wonderful James Blunt songs the future holds for music lovers the world over. Bravo and thank you very much Mr. Blunt!

BRILLIANT SECOND EFFORT

better this time around
While I enjoyed his first cd (a few songs at least). I was just looking for some improvement from the first. He has done that this time around with "All The Lost Souls". He has a different vibe to him on this release..that i didnt really feel on the first one (not that i didnt like it). But Mr. Blunt seems to have a clearer purpose on this record and it involves getting us to listen and just enjoy the things that we have in life. He does it with a voice that while not strong is more than clear and resonates on each and every song on the set. While it only clocks in at 38 mins and 39 seconds. It gets what needs to be said across with out all the interludes and crappy intros that other artists seem to pile on to their releases. Simply put its just a really good record to listen and mellow out too without getting too deep and trying to do too much. "All The Lost Souls" helps you find that something that you may have lost or is right there in front of your eyes. Nice one this time around, JB.

Experience is everything
It seems that James Blunt's experiences as a solider are everything to his music. No matter what he is singing about there is an image of war or a feeling of loss based upon the things he saw while over seas. This man is working out a lot of psychological scars in his music and it produces some hauntingly beautiful prose. Track three, "I'll Take Everything," has a great beat with the saddest lyrics I have hard since I was an angst ridden teen listening to The Smiths. He has the same talent as Morrissey for creating up beat music that sucks you in and lyrics that rip your heart out. If you don't listen to what the singer is saying don't try this album, it isn't the music that matters here as much as the story Blunt has to tell. I'm not saying the rhythmus and melodies aren't good, they are, it just takes a back seat (in my mind) to the lyrics.

Soothing the soul, even in the deep of night.
I purchased the first album about eight months ago and enjoyed it very much. I purchased this album about two weeks ago. I am going to buy one for my car. All The Lost Souls really speaks to me on so many levels. I find myself putting on the headphones and listening to it late a night when I can't sleep. Each cut on this album appeals to me for a different reason. My favorite is Carry You Home. A friend of mine lost a granddaughter in Irak, a nurse, and Carry You home seems just perfect. Of all the albums I have purchased over the years, and since I am 73 there have been a lot of albums, this is by far my favorite. The songs are funny, sad, happy, silly, you get the idea. James Blunt does not have the best voice in the world, but he certainly gets the message across. The songs are wonderful in both lyrics and music and he delivers the messages beautifully. I wonder when the third album will be available.

Although I owned nearly all versions of this album this was one I missed until now, playing through a great DVD player and an amp with some quality speakers the DVD quality shines through. Although not the best of Blunts albums to date he has improved with each release, this being the second of his four studio albums. Listening to it again James Blunt shows what a quality artist he really is, superb writing is his forte and his voice can never be mistaken, a true one off he deserves every accolade he receives. Moving slowly away from the laboured tracks of the first album, there are some superb uplifting tracks here, James proving he can provide a beat, more electric guitar than he is really comfortable with at this stage, but it doesn't show in the recordings themselves. If all you know James for is Your Beautiful, you need to have a listen to this album, yes there are still some beautiful moments on here but all in all James Blunt knew he had far more in his locker to come. His live shows are a real treat, always ending with the first single from this album 1973, he uses his piano as a surf board riding it like a pro. Don't be fooled by those who scorn him as a one hit wonder or say he only appeals to the young girls known for following him around the world making sure they are in the front row at every show. He is a true artist and gentleman who puts his fans first giving all who support him a great evening whether you are at his concerts or listening to a fine album such as All The Lost Souls, SUPERB!!!!!

『You're Beautiful』

Back to bedlam" weit zurück. I can't hear the music".
