How does the ranging work with this scope?

This scope is known for having great reticle accuracy and a front focal point sight. There are many youtube videos on using a MIL reticle for ranging. Please search using FFP for range finding and you will get a better explanation than I can give you in writing.

Yes, it does come with a sunshade.

Will this optic handle a 300 PRC?

Yes this scope will “handle” a 300PRC. When zeroed on a 0 MOA base this scope will have approximately 15 MIL of elevation adjustment, that will be enough MILs to dial the turret out to 1680 yards with a Hornady 225ELDM @ 2800fps. Depending on the elevation above sea level.
