So beautiful
Oh it's sooo pretty! (And QUIET!) Love it! But it's a bugger to put together. My husband can do anything, yet he was extremely agitated by the time he was done installing. However, the beautiful part is, it's done and looks so nice. Well worth the money.

Excellent Fan for a Small Space.
Put several in the same apartment. Great look, easy install. Bulb cover is effortless to open, I'm presuming Hunter quality & will last for years.

Beautiful looking minimalist fan but installation is challenging
I recently renovated my bedroom and went with a minimalist grey and white scheme. I had a Hunter fan previously but it was a traditional, oak fan that looked very heavy. This fan has reversible blades - one side is a weathered gray look and the other is a darker gray brown. The fan could be challenging to install for someone who has never installed a ceiling fan before but it is doable. I've installed three different ceiling fans in my house by this point so I'm used to the bumps in the road. I already had the electrical box attached to my roof structure so I didn't have to worry about that. Also, this fan had far less parts than my previous Hunter fan so it looks like Hunter has improved the installation process that much to make it easier on us. That first fan took me 2-3 hours to put up. This one took an hour. There are a few notes on installation to keep in mind before you start. 1) Absolutely install the pull chains before installing the fan. The chains came out of their holes in my housing and it was a bugger to fish them back in. Not impossible, just irritating. There are supposed to be blocks on the chains to keep them from falling out but the blocks on mine had fallen off so I had to fish the chains back into place. 2) The other difficulty was when I was screwing the fan blades on. The screws are difficult to get into place and to get started because you're trying to hold the blade and hold the screws and hold the screwdriver. For some reason, the screws don't "catch" on the threads immediately and it takes a while to get the screws to go in. 3) Plug the light into the plug handing down from the fan before you screw the light kit to the fan. You can't really plug the wires together after you screw the light kit to the fan. The directions have the steps backwards, I think. Basically, just have some patience and don't try to be in a hurry when installing the fan. I didn't install this with a remote. I have just one light switch that powers on everything - the light and the fan. If I want to turn one or the other off, I just use the pull chain. One weird thing is that when I first turned the light on after installation, I thought it was incredibly dim and I was disappointed. However, when I went in 5 minutes later, the light seemed perfectly bright. I thought it was my brain playing tricks on me so I experimented and the light does indeed start off dim and then slowly goes up in brightness. I went back to the description on Amazon but couldn't find mention of this. I don't know whether it's the bulbs (I used the two bulbs that came with it) or if it is within the electrical of the fan itself. I like the dim start-off now and actually prefer it. It's not so jarring in the morning at 5:00am :) The fan is fairly large and while it is low profile compared to what I had before, it does still hang down quite a bit. The description says flush mount but it's really not. The fan hangs down about 8" from the ceiling to the trim ring. That is still less than my previous fan which hung down a good 10-12". For looks and style, I'd give it five stars because it does look incredible and looks expensive even though it's not. However, I'm giving it four stars because the installation is challenging if you're not a DIYer. However, I can say that Hunter fans last a long time. This is the fourth Hunter I've installed in my house and I only changed it because I wanted a different aesthetic. The other two fans that are still installed are more than 10 years old and I haven't had a single issue with either of them. So I believe the Hunter brand is definitely good.

Great replacement for when you don’t want a remote
Works great, look great! Perfect replacement for my existing double switch bedroom where I can control either fan or light separately. No remote to go out!

Good fan, hard to install
The fan is high quality and quiet. The two pull-chains are labeled as to which is for the light and which is for the fan, so no guessing which to pull. Brightness isn’t an issue—the 800 lm, 3000K LED bulbs are bright enough, and are easily replaceable if you want something different. Installation was more challenging than any other ceiling fan I’ve installed. Installing the blades means lining up holes that you can’t see, and inevitably dropping the screws a few times (a spare is provided). The blades are reversible (white/wood in my case), but once you get these installed you will never want to do it again. Connecting the two wiring harness connectors is difficult because the wires are so short that you can barely line up the connectors. A few other screws are hard to insert because a tangle of wires is in the way and visibility is limited. All said, a challenge to install but worth it once it’s done.

What you expect of Hunter....
I was a little hesitant, given some of the comments. None of the mentioned issues at all. This fan is not a higher end model, but it is not cheap looking either. Perfect for kids room. Easy to assemble following included directions. Took 1 hour (fan rated box already in place). Most of the time was spent on annoying fan blade alignment and attachment. Only complaint is that the wires coming up through the top shroud were pretty short. The instructions said cut excess leaving minimum 8 inches. They were only maybe 4 inches to begin with. Not much room to make connections from box to fan while holding fan tilted open on its hanger. Perfect balance, no wobble, no noise. Well, on highest setting you can hear rushing air, but.... it's a fan. Running on Lutron Maestro digital fan/light dimmer switch. Included bulbs were too yellowish and dim. Swapped bulbs to max rating listed (13watt) with higher color temperature. All is good.

Assembly a little tricky, but the fan is worth it.
I love the way this fan looks and works. Assembly was not too bad - the hardest part is when trying to align three different parts to run the screws through (while the piece that the screws go into easily rotates. Check that the screws fit first before trying to put it together. Also, when installing the fan blades, it is easier to use a dowel to hold the fan in place when starting the first screw (three screws per blade). I used the smooth end of a drill bit - this holds the fan blade close enough to the correct position to start the first screw. Install the three screws a little loosely to get the fan blade aligned, then tighten them up. Also, install the chain pulls before mounting the fan. Use something to hold the stubby-end of the chain before removing the plastic end - they are a bugger to fish out if they fall inside the housing. I would rate the assembly as 4 stars, but I like the fan so much, and it looks so good, that I'm rating it 5 stars.

Defective Part and Difficult to Install. Return and Replace Required
First off, one of the sockets for the LED bulbs is missing the power node for the base of the bulb so it cannot light. This wasn't realized until after the fan assembly was completed! Totally unacceptable. Seconldy, the install process takes time and is an effort. The hardest parts are connecting the fan blades (I found that using an awl to align the center hole ensures alignment for the screws); the connector for the electrical connections is extremely tight with short wires and much effort is required to successfully connect. The fan had to be disassembled and returned for a replacement so the lighting will work on both light sockets (the LED lights are of a smaller size and low in frequency, regular LED bulbs of the same shape are too large so the globe cannot be attached.) Amazon was great at replacing and the return process was a breeze. Thanks Amazon! Now that the replacement is installed and the fan is fully functional, I rate it a five out of five for its looks, operation and quietness. The fan is really nice and accents the room in which it is located, plus it moves the air very well!
