Magnum Deer Sleigh'r Game Sled Review: Perfect Solution - I purchased the “Deer Sleigh’r” product for the specific application of transporting my large ice fishing shack (Eskimo Outbreak 650XD). I portage all of my gear to and from remote destinations on foot. Often several miles by snowshoe or ski. With all the equipment filling my sled, I needed a solution to move the ice house in any weather. The “Deer Sleigh’r” was the perfect solution. Lightweight, durable, compact and easy to use, this product glides over the snow and ice effortlessly. I did make a couple modifications: 1.) I lengthened the retention ropes to 26’. This helped me ensure I can lash down anything I need. 2.) A heavy duty pull loop at the front, attached to a stronger cross-bar bolster. This ensures the stress from the pull rope is not focused on the front grommet, but spread along the entire front face. 3.) Pulling harness that can be pulled by a single person, or attached to the expedition sled and pulled in-line. 4.) A foam cradle to raise the rear of the ice house, lifting it, so it’s not dragging on the ice as the “Deer Sleigh’r” is about 2’ too short (respectively). All-in-all, this product was almost perfect for my application. My only wish is that it could have been about 2’ longer. About two years ago we bumped up the thickness to .055". **Q: Need to drag a palletized shipment (3' x 3' footprint, 4' high, 210 lbs) up an icy 400' driveway. Will this work?** A: If its a paved driveway should work good. Will work on gravel but it will scratch it up and not be as affective next time you use it **Q: Can it be used behind a atv to drag a deer without tearing it? Can't load deer on atv rack. I got one because I cannot lift a deer onto the back rack on my 4 wheeler, so you can drag very easily with the deer sleigh. The sleigh can be rolled up tightly like a bed roll and strapped down on the back of your ATV out of the way until you need it. I have hauled several deer on mine,usually about half mile each,through cutover and on logging roads which are rough with rocks,etc. Sleigh has held very well and gets your deer to your truck,etc in tact. I guess everything has its tradeoffs and this is no exception. It is large enough to easily get a deer wrapped up to make it easier to drag out of the woods but I wouldn't want to carry this around the woods with me all day. Like I said, tradeoffs. It is heavy but it is heavy duty and sturdy.
