Lastly, I operated this warming tray exclusively on the stone/marble counter-top in my kitchen. Depending on your preferred temperature settings, this tray can become exceptionally hot, so I personally never felt comfortable using it on any wood or plastic surfaces, especially if you intend to leave the tray unattended. We were asked to bring it to another party for someone else and we had two 9x13 dishes on it and the food stayed warm the whole time.
