Crochet Techniques & Tips: For Beginner & Experienced Crocheters with Step-by-Step Instructions & Photos | 20+ Stitches, Edging & Joining | Spiral Bound Craft Book Gift Review: Best Crochet Technique Book I’ve Used - I have had many crochet instruction books; this is my favorite by far. As you can see from my photos, the pages in my book are a bit abused, but in one piece. I carry my book & crochet bag with me everywhere. The spiral binding makes it easier to use while crocheting, and the pages don’t fall out of the book. (Common problem for me.) The instructions are clear and easy to understand, and the intro pages at the beginning give a great refresher and reference on reading patterns, hook position, and basic crochet processes. I wish it had a few more stitch designs, but it includes 11, so there is plenty to learn. Finally, it teaches edging, joining pieces, and finishing projects of various kinds. The instructions are easy to follow with arrows and different colored yarn in joining pieces section so it’s easier to follow. Overall, I would recommend 10/10 times! The only hiccup I’ve found is pages on working in the round; the way it’s laid out, I need to flip pages in mid-stitch, as the instructions are laid out over four pages and taught in two methods, but it is easy to flip the pages and book and it’s a great way to learn how similar stitches work for different projects. Review: Very good instructional book. - Purchased this book along with yarn and crochet hooks for someone who is just starting to learn. They love the book, told me it was "very easy to understand, very good pictures to follow" I would recomended this book.

Best Crochet Technique Book I’ve Used

Great for Beginners!
This beginner crochet book is great!! It teaches the basics in an easy to understand way. There are written instructions and pictures to show what each stitch should look like. Once the basics are instructed the book goes on to teach textured stitches. This book is a great value for the information provided.

An excellent, well organized & photographed book
If you want to learn how to crochet or are still a novice, this book would be a good place to begin or expand your learning journey. This book is spiral bound, a definite plus as it will always lay flat. It is well organized with a Table of Contents up front instead of an alphabetical index in the back. There are excellent color photos of each sample swatch followed with step by step color photos of each stitch. There are red arrows pointing out precisely where your hook must be inserted for each step of the stitch. The written instructions are clearly worded and placed directly below the picture of each step. It covers simple but helpful supplies. Hook sizes are shown. There is an overview of yarn types and weights. Th “Tips” are easily identified by outlined dashes. And finally, a number of finishing techniques are demonstrated. My only disappointment with this book is that some of the yarn used for the sample swatches looks like it is poor quality. The strands are loosely twisted, are more subject to splitting - your hook doesn’t catch all the strands for a neat stitch. These splits are often difficult to pull out when they are finally noticed a row or two later. Careful pulling (aka: frogging) is the way to correct the split stitch. I’ve been a “Happy Hooker” for more than 50 years. I’ve made hundreds of slippers, dozens of scarfs, some sweaters, a few leg and knee warmers, rugs and more blankets for charity, friends, children, cats and dogs than I can recall. Welcome to the club! I hope your journey is also a happy one.

A must have for every Crochet lovers bag or if your new to the craft
Love this book. I'm not a beginner but since I go in spurts to crochet I sometime need to remember how to do a stitch or two. I like having this in my bag to quickly find what I need. I know I can google it but sometime a Quick Look is all I need. Now that my grandchildren are learning it's great for them to see the pictures. They know it's in my bag and are looking up stitches on their own. Great value, quality cover, pages and the pictures are great.

So good I bought 2
This guide was so great I came back to buy a second copy to share with a friend who is also trying to learn. I especially appreciate the spiral binding, which allows the book to lay flat while your hands are busy trying the techniques.

I'm a beginner with crocheting and this is really a great book with simple steps to follow. Most importantly, the binding is so smart and it makes it so easy to read while practising at the same time. I do not have to constantly worry about keeping the book open. Highly recommended.
