Amazing reference book to Thai cooking
As a Thai, I was amazed by how authentic the recipe in this book are. There are multiple Thai dishes in the book that you will not be able to find at Thai restaurants in the US. Some of the dishes are very regional that it is even hard to find in other parts of Thailand. The directions were clear and easy to follow. The reason that I buy Thai cookbooks that written by foreign writers is I felt like the foreign writers have an advantage over Thai writer when it comes to getting authentic recipe from the locals. The locals are usually more comfortable sharing the recipe with foreigners. And so far this is the best Thai cookbook I have in my collection.

No anglicized Thai names - I.e. you can’t look up Pad Thai, Pad see ew etc...
Beautiful book, amazing range of recipes. The only issue to point out is no anglicized version of the Thai dish names - there are translations of the names and the name in Thai script- but you can’t look up or identify recipes by names you know such as Pad Kee Mao, Pad Thai, Pad see ew, etc... By not doing this, Phaidon has lost an opportunity for people to learn language and names for dishes. Great that they included Thai names in Thai though (just can’t read it without learning Thai hahaha). We all know original names carbonara, cannoli, amaretti, macaron, croissant - we are capable of learning what the real names of these dishes too! Migrant cultures are huge, no one goes into a Thai restaurant and reads a menu that looks like this haha. Another feature I wish they would put in is information about the photographs - what dish, plant, geographic location etc are we looking at. Otherwise it is a seriously beautiful book! So excited to cook from it (may need to use google translate to know what I’m making though, because I didn’t know Pad see ew was “Drunken Noodles” - being from Australia I’ve only ever known it as Pad see ew). Phaidon make the most beautiful books! They are literal works of art.

Delish! And lovely photo work.
I've been collecting Phaidon's cookbooks based on different countries' cultural cuisines, and this book is no exception. There's a lot of information to read within without being distracting to the recipes, but please read the prefaces and introductions. The information on these pages do explain why they collected certain recipes and not others. There are recipes I doubt I'll find elsewhere because they sought them out with the help of the locals. Pretty much all the ingredients are readily available via local Asian grocers and online stores, including Amazon and ImportFoods.

Solid book for Thai food lovers
Gorgeous book, both as an addition to your counter and the quality of the recipes. If you love authentic Thai food like I do it’s an easy buy. This book contains recipes I haven’t found elsewhere.

Mouth watering
Wonderful pictures. The book covers a very large selection of recipes from all over Thailand. From vegetables to meats through pupae worms and some uncommon animals. The book is not divided by ingredients, but by cooking techniques. I believe that recipes are authentic, but some ingredients might be difficult to find depending where you live.

Absolutely the best Thai cookbook - hands down
Absolutely the best Thai cookbook - hands down. All authentic dishes with easy to understand instructions. The price was also right, it was almost half the cost that was being charged by a bookstore near my home.

This is a beautiful cookbook with a death of great Thai recipes. Tantalising images adorn the pages - it's just a shame that there are so many recipes that there isn't room for every one to have a picture!

wonderful book, delivery took some time because they were out of stock but I wanted it badly. I'm sure it's usually much faster. The book is amazing, great, authentic (at least I think so) recipes, has some pictures in it and a high quality cover
