Every morning, before breakfast, I read Frog and Toad to my German Shepherd, Todd. I believe this ritual has shaped who he is. Through these stories, he has learned patience, perseverance, and the crushing weight of seasonal depression. When Frog teaches Toad the virtue of delayed gratification in “Cookies,” Todd, too, now understands the value of waiting. Often I catch him staring at his food with the solemn wisdom of a scholar. “The List” has taught him the importance of routine, and when he forgets something, he now sits in quiet contemplation, refusing to move, just as Toad did. And “Alone” has shown him that sometimes, true friendship means respecting solitude. So now, if I sit on the porch in silence, Todd simply nods, understanding. This book isn’t just for kids. It’s for those who seek to grow, to reflect, and to navigate the fragile nature of existence be they human, dog or something in-between.

I love these books! I grew up with them, and I’m thoroughly enjoying watching my 2nd grader discover these gems- she’s not a strong reader, but can read these mostly on her own, and my favorite part is watching her burst into giggles over the storylines and dialogue.

These books are great for early readers K through 2nd grade. My 7 year old loves to read these books to me at bedtime and is so proud that he can tell me a story and he appreciates the amount of pictures in it too. The stories are very cute and entertaining with a moral lesson as well.

My son loves the frog and the toad! Purchased for him for his 7th birthday. He is able to read these books really well. I think these are great for kiddos that are learning to read and would recommend for 1st -2nd grade reading levels.

These books are classics, and have won numerous awards. This box set is the perfect selection for early independent readers, in 1st or 2nd grade. I read these books when I was that young, and I NEVER forgot Frog and Toad. They are part of the reason I love to read to this day. I distinctly remember how proud my mom was when I would sit down in the summer and plow through these books. I gifted these to a much younger cousin of mine, and I hear reports that she asks to read them to her parents before bedtime! Mission accomplished! The stories are short enough that a young reader can quickly progress through the pages, and not get bogged down. The print is BIG; good so parents can look on, but not get in the way. This builds confidence in reading, and fosters a love of reading in general. I cannot recommend Frog and Toad in stronger terms.

My son (7) is in first grade and is a typical action seeking, fun loving, smart boy with a funny bone. He reading has really progressed recently and he understands what he reads, so it needs to be of interest and/or funny. Finding books for him is not easy. A lot are geared towards girls or are boring or don't really have a lot of words, like a real story. These books are perfect. They are long and funny and not girly. He actually read all three within 2 days. He'd rather read these than watch TV. His deal is that he has to read before he can watch TV. He could have just read for 15 minutes, but he wanted to keep going and read the whole book, about 30-45 mintues. I had to make him slow down. In fact I had to just go to a book store and get the 4th Frog and Toad book not included in the set. I wished they made more like this or stories about space/aliens, etc... stuff that little boys would like, stuff they pretend about when they just play using their imagination. The level 3 books have some good stories but he is not quite there yet. So now my search is on for more. This story line is great, highly recommended, even for girls.

We have just purchased another set of these terrific books for a second generation, and have given some for a baby shower also. Cannot be more pleased. If you can find a version with audio CD narrated by the author , even better. Even our older grandkids like listening in the car. Sweet, sweet stories about friendship. Reading level probably 2nd or 3rd grade, our 8 year old grandson now reads us his bedtime stories.

The Frog and Toad books are among the best of children's literature. Whether you're buying for an early reader or buying to read to a preschooler, you can't go wrong with Frog and Toad! These two friends have all kinds of wacky adventures. Like Pooh and Piglet, they're always there for each other. Best friends 'til the end. My children loved Frog and Toad books and thirty years later, we still quote funny lines from these characters. I purchased this Frog and Toad Collection Box Set as a baby gift for my new grandson and look forward to reading it with him and introducing him to Frog and Toad. There will be plenty of giggles! Besides the entertainment value, these characters give a good example of how a true friendship works. Recommended for kids of all ages, including grandparents.

If you are teaching your children to read, this is a book that you can introduce to them. While they enjoy the moments of friendship, kindness and love between frog and toad they would have learnt how to read.

Good book! well packed!

Frog & Toad had become mine and my boys absolute favourite bed time stories when we got one of them from the library. My curiosity got the best of me and I checked Amazon for our fav reads but I wanted many. They give you three when there are 4 books… which is really truly sad. It’s almost a shame they don’t make gold hard covers for these and sell it as a gorgeous full set. Arnold Lobel… the author has passed :( and they don’t give these books enough clout. My kids and I look forward to starting his other books “mouse soup” and other fables, etc! Great price, amazing books! Our fav story is “Shivers” from the frog and toad series, certainly age appropriate. Worth your money. Just wish the appreciation was shown MORE for such great work on Arnold’s part!

nice collection, nicely packed into a folder that holds the three volumes, sweet and simple stories for all ages not just children!

I read these stories as a kid and now I'm reading them to my children. Funny and short, they hold my kids' interest. A great series to work with kids starting out on their reading journey.
