Is there a guide to what size drill bit is used for each size rivet nut?

No, but it is easy to figure out. You want to drill a hole that is very close to the size of the nut. You want to have to force it in, but not so tight that you deform the nut. If it is slightly loose, it will still probably work OK as long as you get a good compression on the tool. There is a very specific feel to setting a riv nut properly and you might try setting a few in some scrap material to get the feel of it.
