In a pinch it worked out great. Found out my key wouldn’t turn more than five degrees, so I placed the order on Saturday and but Sunday I had it installed! Also make sure you have a paper clip to remove your original cylinder. I also found a nail punch was the best way to remove the two m6 shear bolts. There is an awesome tutorial on YouTube from a mobile locksmith. It might not be an oem part but it’s not oem pricing and got me back on the road. Still going to replace this one with one from FCP once it comes in. The was done on my 2013 Jetta se

Part good, dont buy ECS
I didn't use the housing but I did use the sensor on the butt. I also tested the housing with the tumblers and it does indeed work. If I were to replace this on another vehicle, I would take this unit over the ECS one any day of the week.

Fits and works perfectly
This is not a project for a novice, or the faint hearted. Requires lots of time, patience and skill to install. It is an exact match for original part at a reasonable price

Do not buy
Bought it for my 2012 vw passat then installed it stopped working after 2 days the key is still stuck into the ignition

It works, not quite OEM quality but its not OEM price either.
it fit my 2006 GTI MKV, it works as it should. occasionally it gets stuck on the “asc on” position while key is removed. i just reinsert the key jiggle until the spring return snaps the “asc off” switch then remove the key. not bad for the discounted price, not quite OEM quality or build either. I am perfectly satisfied for the price and ease of replacement.
