Tusk Quick Release Flag Pole Holder 1/4 inch Pole Black

​This flag pole holder is exactly what I was looking for. The installation was very straightforward, and the included directions were easy to follow. ​I installed this on the rear bar of a 2004 TRX250EX Sportrax, utilizing a pre-drilled hole that was already there. It fit perfectly. The build quality feels very strong and durable—definitely feels like it will hold up to some abuse on the trails. ​A few things to keep in mind: ​Tools: You will need some basic tools (wrenches/sockets) to get it installed properly. ​Fitment: The 1/4 inch sizing was spot on for my setup. ​Overall, I'm very impressed and would definitely buy this again for another machine. Great value for the quality you get.

The product is a vast improvement over the wrench operated flag holders of the past. Just a hand twist to tighten and the flag is secure. Twist again to loosen and the flag slides out. Can only accept a 1/4" diameter rod. The internal hole in the bolt is all the way through, so you slide the rod down into the bolt and make it extend at least 3/4" below the head of the bolt. This allows you to pull out the stub left over if you somehow manage to break off the flag rod by accident. Very well designed!

I've been trying to decide on a quick release for our ATV flags for a while now. I hate leaving them on, especially when trailering the ATV's, as you either have to leave them up and flapping in the wind, or strap them down, which puts pressure on the fiberglass pole. The only good option is to have a quick release so you can take them off during transport and storage, but easily put them on when at the dunes or trail, without tools. I thought about building an 'air chuck' style setup as you can find on youtube, but what I really like about the Tusk solution is the ability to easily repair the flag in the field. If the fiberglass rod breaks, you simply cut the end clean and re-insert into the mount! If the rod breaks after epoxying it into an air chuck quick release, you're outta luck until you can get a new fitting and epoxy the rod back in. Overall, I'm very happy with these. I wrenched them down pretty hard and didn't strip the threads or damage the mounting bolt. The construction, materials, and finish seem great. When mounting the flag, all it takes is to hand tighten it down, and the flag is solid. Very good design. One word of caution - if you don't have a flag in the mount, don't tighten the locking mechanism too tight - doing so will cause the fingers or tangs inside to compress too far, and you'll have to stretch them back out before you can fit a flag in again. No permanent damage, just a note to avoid an inconvenience. (Just take a tapered punch or even a Philips screwdriver to readjust the fingers, if needed.) I highly recommend these, and will put them on all ATV's I ever buy!

This device holds a 1/4 inch pole securly, but you do need a wrench to tighten it fully. The only problem is if you try to use it with the matching bracket which attaches it to a roll bar, the threaded shaft is not long enough. Once mounted, you can not tighten the assembly enough to secure the flag pole. It would only work with a bracket which is thinner. So while the holder works well, it is not a good match for it's companion bracket.
