For those that this didn't work for, did you find one that did?

No, every one I've tried is too flimsy to actually hold up a head, they just smush down so you can't breathe (this one included). Well...that all depends on you, and your preferences!! For me "no" as I like more distance between me and the laptop.

Does the pillow have a channel for the breast? For the forehead I'm thinking if adding a horseshoe shape pillow would help? Thanks!

Pillow does not have a channel for the breasts. Adding a horseshoe pillow sounds good if you need more support.

Why do the models not have full head weight down? Does is not support the weight or something?

It is designed so you can breathe fresh air, when on your stomach. If it was a hole in a pillow to support the forehead, too, you would end up rebreathing your old air, which is harmful. I use another pillow to support my forehead, and another pillow to support the stomach area, so that the small of my back isn't forced into an unhealthy position.
