I used it on my floor. But I haven't tried it on zip tape **Q: Why is the handle designed to separate? This is the second roller I purchased with the same design. Why?** A: Its meant extend and lock at the desired length. If you don’t lock it down correctly, it may separate during use. **Q: Will this tool roll out wrinkles in new carpet?** A: My gut tells me that if I "own" a wrinklled carpet I may need this tool when I'm installing a better floor.
