Review: Solid construction; white task light; very adjustable; the magnifier is a bonus. Suitable for anyone with a desk. - I purchased this lamp / magnifier to help me replace a battery in my iphone 5s. I knew the parts would be tiny, and they are, and this lamp made a huge difference for that particular project. I hesitated justifying the cost of this lamp to do that one project but now that I have the lamp in place I've discovered that it is an absolute joy to have as part of my work space. I work from home 3 days a week and have found the lamp itself to be a handy addition to my area. The mounting clamp is sturdy and easy to use, providing you have a desk that can accommodate the clamp. My desk is about 1 inch thick; the clamp easily fit and is very sturdy. Once the clamp is in place the lamp easily mounts the mount by dropping into a hole in the clamp. It is simple. Once the lamp is in place it will swing freely by swiveling in the mount. The swing arm extends nicely and is very versatile. I have not found a position that the lamp could not reach for my work purposes. The power cord is a heavy duty, grounded plug. I'm guessing it's 5-6 feet long. It's very adequate if you have a plug approximate to your desk/mounting surface. The light is bright and white. The cover on the top of the light keeps the magnifier dust free. I don't need a magnifier very often so in most cases I'll use the light with the dust cover down. And when I'm finished using the light I just push it out of the way and it disappears behind my monitor. The packaging that the lamp is shipped in is also very solid. I kept the box and packaging materials... I may be moving in a year or two... Without the original packaging it will be a rather unwieldy unit to pack. Overall the lamp is well built, works great, and easily adjustable to my work area. Even if you want a nice task lamp, without the magnifier, I would recommend it. That magnifier will come in handy when reading battery numbers and serial numbers off of small electronic gadgets.
Review: Great product that more than meets my needs... 4.5 stars - I have had the lamp for a few weeks. I am a wood worker and do quite a bit of 'small' work at my work bench. I had a good array of overhead LED tube lights that brightened my work area very well but found that I frequently needed more focused light and the aid of a magnifier. After some research I homed in on the Britghtech Light because of the magnifier, the LED light system and the apparent sturdy construction. It turns out I made a good choice for my needs. The led light system is very bright and nicely enhances my work under the normal shop lights. Because it does not get 'hot' the LED system enables me to enclose it with a clear plastic bag as a cover to block all of the dust I generate. The magnifier did take a little time for me to 'find the range' but is a very effective aid and has improved my visual access to the details of my wood projects. I do have to get a little closer to my work than I would like but it is not a big issue. Lastly, the sturdy construction of the light is excellent. The extension joints are well constructed and hold their position without the usual tendency to slowly' spring back' seen in other , lesser quality, extension lamps. This is an excellent product and exceeded my expectations in performance and quality.

**Q: When the arm and lamp are at 180 degrees, the lamp part slips and ends up vertical.. Is there any way to tighten the ball and socket part?  Thanks!**
A: I have also had this problem for a LONG time! I had tried earlier to tighten the screws next to the ball with no effect. Thanks so much to reviewer Cincybob, who wrote that you just need to take a mini file and rough up the exposed part of the ball while rotating it all the way around (to access as much of the ball as possible), without taking anything apart. I wasn't sure if a "mini file" meant an ordinary nail file or something else, but I just tried this using the rough side of an ordinary nail file, and it WORKED!  The lamp head still dips down a tiny bit, but is held up close to horizontal now—enough to be OK. Man, I wish I had read about this solution several years ago!

**Q: Can you use the light independent of magnifier?**
A: Not sure what your question means.  Only time the lens comes into play is when you look through it.  Light functions separately from the lens and is essentially a desk lamp that you can change the position by using the articulated arms.  Using the lens merely means you are looking through it into the center of the light being emitted.  While there is a cover for the lens, it doesn't seem to affect the light in any way.  Light is much more intense than the florescent one I used before and a "cleaner" white as well.  Magnification is about the same.

**Q: If the magnifying head is heavy will loose and fall down easily that i have bad experienced, so is the lens glass?  plastic glass will cracked**
A: I've had the product for about two and a half weeks and it's mounted on a bartop in my basement. Lens is glass, housing and movable arm are metal, yet the head and arm are both light and well supported with a tensioning bolts and swivel mount system, so the head never feels like it's going to fall. Instead, everything feels easy and light with no instability, as long as the surface it's mounted to is somewhat sturdy. A cheap folding card table won't be a good place for any safe use, while a desk, kitchen table, or heavy shelving unit would be suitable for mounting pictured on product page.

**Q: What are the dimensions of the clamp? I want to secure it to a table with a 2 inch lip.**
A: My bench is 2 and 3/4" inches thick and it fits snug, so 2 inches will be ok.
