I do not have the lid on it when I roast however. The lid will not fit over the bird, I use a brown paper bag "tent" to roast the bird in the roaster. Works really, really well. They have one more size up if you are needing a larger roaster around 19 inches I believe with a higher profile on the lid as compared to this one. **Q: what are the internal dimensions?** A: 15x11. I've used it three times. It came with a 1/2" unpainted spot inside. Disappointing. I also ordered the grid. So far no need for it. It conducts heat well, maybe too well! The meat can dry out if not watched. **Q: Will this be good in a 450 drgree oven?** A: I honestly couldn't say. I used it in a 350 degree oven with a turkey for several hours, and I have heard of folks using it on a grill. I would imagine it could be used at 450 degrees. These roaster pans have been a familiar item around my family gatherings since I was old enough to remember. Perhaps they are lighter weight than years ago but this appears to be good quality although lighter than what I remember them to be.Something of concern to me is reviews which state there has been rusting at the chips and even in areas not chipped. I am a bit confused as to how this roaster can chip, but something to keep in mind. Making sure the roaster is completely and thoroughly dry after each washing might help to prevent rust. I will watch for this problem, however.I purchased this roaster because, even though I may only use it twice a year, the purchase price sold me as it will not be necessary to purchase a disposable aluminum roaster pan every time I need one. When your winter essentially lasts 6 months of year, like it does in Western New York, roasts are a way of life... and secondary heating for your house. I was concerned before buying this by its lack of roasting rack to lift the food off the pan, but as long as you maintain a thin layer of moisture (water, cooking stock, etc.) on the bottom, you should have no troubles. Even when I have run out of water and not noticed, the food was not overly difficult to get off and cleanup was still a breeze. I'm pretty sure that you can separately buy an oval rack to fit inside the pan for cheap if you really want, but I have never found it necessary. The pan is sturdy but VERY lightweight, which was a great surprise for my tendonitis. But WAIT: They didn't have to wash a baking pot.You will find this is one of the safest pans to roast your turkey, chicken, Cornish hens or the like to perfection. Despite they have no dangerous artificial non-stick surface, their makeup do as good a job or better when it comes time to clean.
