How do I get the lid off to clean it? I already broke my first lid trying to get it off so help would be greatly appreciated.

Hold the carafe with your right hand as if to pour coffee, push the tab, that you would normally press to pour coffee, to the right with your thumb. The lid should allow you to remove the lid.

Will this fit a braun model kf7170 coffee maker. after my husband broke the third glass carafe in as many months i need a more permanent solution!

Well, my carafe measures approximately 6 1/4" high and 18 1/2" in diameter at the middle.

note that if you are replacing the carafe of your 3106 because the lid is clogged, then you can simply pull-out the round plug on top of the lid... clean grounds out, and replace... good as new!
