Review: Beautiful cards - Beautiful cards, definitely recommend! Review: Gorgeous artwork and rich colours. - I love these cards. I am not a fan or the original artwork of the Rider-Waite deck but these have such rich colours and are slightly alternative in terms of artwork on them. I like that the cards are borderless so all full of rich, vibrant colour. The cards themselves are good quality and nice to use and shuffle. I was drawn to the rich colours and artwork of these cards so when they arrived and I opened the deck I am happy to say I was not disappointed with them at all. My only criticism would be the box, I would have liked a better, sturdier box for them and the deck also just has a basic small black and white booklet for guidance.

Lovely cards.
Reading some of the reviews made me wonder if I should risk buying this set or not. I'm glad I did because they're nice cards with vibrant colours. They are a bit thinner than a lot of other Tarot decks on the market but not so thin that they can't be used. Some people find the thicker, stiffer cards are harder to shuffle so it's not necessarily a bad thing. I personally don't see them as being to flimsy. I feel they're worth it and would say that if you feel drawn to the deck and don't throw the cards around then they will stand up to readings for a decent while.

This Is A Beautiful Deck
This is a lovely deck and the colours are amazing. I really do like a borderless deck of cards. It's a shame they are not edged so i found the perfect colour to edge my deck on Amazon. edding 5000 acrylic marker broad - dark-blue - 1 waterproof acrylic paint marker - chisel nib 5-10 mm

Wanted to give it a 5-star rating, but a couple of small niggles....
I am quite personally fond of this deck, and love Ciro Marchetti's work in general. The deck, like his others, is stylish and rich in imagery and design. Not only that, the images are easy to use straight away if you're familiar with the Waite system. The cards are of excellent stock, just the right size to handle, (4.5 inches by 2.75 inches.) and are slippery enough to be easy to shuffle. The wee booklet that comes with it, written by Barbara Moore, is very useful. Gives good solid advice on both the upright and the reversed cards—with a couple of new angles I've incorporated into my usual Waite interpretations. I am using the deck regularly, and it certainly 'works' well for me. So why 4 stars, rather than 5 stars? Mainly because the images and backgrounds together are so lush and so full of detail that they are difficult to distinguish one from another in a layout—especially if they are reversed. They are also quite dark (as in dark colours, not 'dark' imagery.) I find that when I do a large spread, like the Celtic Cross, it's nearly impossible to scan over the reading and get an overview right away. None of the cards stand out from the others, and the colours for the images AND the backgrounds are very similar. Fire-y tones, even in the suit of Cups, etc. And lots of green in Wands, Cups and Pentacles ...so the colours don't stand out as being connected to any particular suit. This is a problem which Mr Marchetti has overcome in his excellent Tarot Grand Luxe deck, which is more recent. He uses similar colours, images and lush decor, BUT the central images in the Grand Luxe deck are much larger and clearer and easier to take in at a glance. In the Gilded Tarot, the images tend to be standard size in relation to the size of the card, so one figure looks pretty much like another, till you get a chance for a close look. This is nearly impossible to do at a glance, if the card is reversed. This Gilded Tarot Royale is lovely if you're not in a hurry, and have time to lift and scrutinise each card. Not so good if you need to get on with it (if you're reading for a group, for example, instead of just yourself.) So I recommend the deck for its beauty and faithfulness to the Waite imagery. It might not be a good deck for beginners, though. Nor for somebody who does lots of reading in public. Also a slight niggle ...the box it comes in is flimsy and awkward to handle, unlike the boxes for my other Marchetti decks, which are sturdy, with magnetic closures, or sturdy with lift-off lids. I will be transferring this deck to another box very soon. However, I certainly like this deck, and will continue to use it for myself. It's beautiful. But maybe a bit too cluttered to be easy to recognise each motif.

The most anticipated deck of this year
I love the Gilded Tarot and is a very well used tarot deck in my collction. Me and many collectors alike have waited a very long time for this deck and when it arrived after pre-order, I was ecstatic. Firstly, I wasn't impressed with the packaging, this put me off a little as I prefer the larger box style packaging. So would like to see this in a similar fashion as the Gilded tarot box set. Secondly, I really like the quality of the cards. They are thicker than the Gilded Tarot but did hope they would have gilding on. Can't have it all I guess. The updated artwork is simply beautiful. It's always been way beyond the years anyway and now it's surpassed that. I really enjoy this deck and had it since pre-order. I'll keep using it and hope they bring out a version with a box set. The books and packaging I am a collector of.

Gorgeous deck, beautiful art
I have several tarot decks and this one has jumped straight to my #1 favourite. It's very firmly Rider-Waite-based and Ciro Marchetti's artwork is stunningly beautiful, steeped in medieaval romance and magic. Each card brims with detail. This version has borderless cards. Based on the name, I was expecting the edges to be gilded but they're not - a missed opportunity, I feel. A simple "little white book" of instructions/meanings is included.

Standard deck: cups, pentacles, swords, and wands. Pretty artwork. Not the best box, but its better than some I own. Easy to use. Meant for all ages. They arent my favorite deck, but im still happy with the purchase. Recommend!!!

The artwork on these cards is gorgeous just as you would expect from Ciro Marchetti. I like these cards because they are borderless, shuffle well and are a great size. The box is flimsy and not what I was expecting but it keeps them together and protected. The guide book is very limited so I would not suggest these cards for a beginner.
